President Bush's Speech to the UN

Very well thought out. It made sense. Saddam has broken every promise it made to the UN. We know they are making weapons of all sorts and it is probably a matter of time before he has nuclear capability. We also know that he supports the terrorists. If he gets this capability, he will pass them on to the likes of Osama bin Laden.

The UN must make him keep those promises that he made, or we have got to do something to stop what will in all likelyhood, take place in the future. Stopping these things is one of the reasons the UN exists.

If the UN does nothing, and then we do nothing, we will have blood on our hands when September 11th happens all over again and maybe even worse.

People in the government had all the signs and clues that could have lead them to see what was going to happen last year.

The signs are crystal clear this time. Are we going to ignore them again?

Very well written, CRB . I DO think that we must make every effort that we can to work through the U.N. BEFORE deciding to take unilateral action. However, if the U.N. develops one of its recurrent states of "paralysis", then I think that we'll have to act FIRST and accept the brunt of world opinion LATER .

.........If only the World had similiarly taken action against Hitler BEFORE his invasion of Poland ...........

I also agree on this matter. If the UN is going to put blinders on then we have to handle this matter on our own whatever the backlash might be.

but I don't see one here. I do not understand why Saddam has been given as many chances as he has in regards to the inspections.
If we ignore the possibility that he is building up weapons and he uses them on one of his neighbors or his own people we will have blood on our hands.

I'm not sure why he keeps getting the chances he gets.

I do notice that many people walk around with a "Nah, it can't happen" attitude, or they don't want to be the one to take a stand for/against anything, when they are in the minority.

But like I said, the UN should at least be enforcing it's own requirements of it's members. It hasn't done that here.
