Preserving flowers CHEAPLY?

Anyone have a recipe for preserving flowers? There are things you can buy I think but wondered if you crafty people had a home made recipe? Something with flour or cornstarch maybe?

My DSIL would like to preserve her DD's flowers from her formal and asked me to help.

Yes. You can sprinkle it on by hand or using something like a flour sifter. I like to line a shoe box with wax paper, put the flowers in and sprinkle the cornstarch over it, then put the box top back on.

And by any chance is corn flour similar to baking powder or baking soda?

Have you seen the commercial for clorox bleach? They show pictures of what you can do with it and one of the things they say is bleach, I haven't looked it up, but I thought I would mention it.

What about pressing them and then putting them in a decorative frame? Or pressing them and using them as a border on a frame with a picture of the event in the center. Or any variation od that. lol

If you put some bleach in the vase with flowers when they are fresh they stay alive longer, doesn't help with preserving them

Not sure. I've only used corn starch. You could use baking powder. Baking soda I wouldn't recommend though.
