Prescription Goggles?

We are planning our first Disney Cruise and although I've read through many threads, I haven't seen this question answered before. My daughters and I wear prescription glasses. Last year when we went to Discovery Cove they had prescription swim goggles available for snorkeling. We just gave them our glasses so they could check the prescription and they handed back out our glasses and prescription goggles. It was great to be able to see everything underwater! Does anyone know if DCL offers anything like this on Castaway Cay? Thanks.

No, don't think so. Just generic swim/snorkel goggles.

If you need the prescription ones, you might need to bring your own along.

I can tell that they don't because I am in the same situation and we were there last fall. Everyone else went diving and I stayed back at the cabana and lounged in a hammock!!

They do not have prescription masks at CC. I ordered my own prescription googles for just such occasions. I found them well worth the extra cost as they have lasted me several years. Even though my glasses script has changed, I can still use the mask. Google or ask your local dive shop for a recommendation for a company. I got mine via mail.

Are you nearsighted or farsighted? It can make a big difference in both price and options. In the store I work pt at in Orlando, near Bass Pro, we can make up a prescription mask for about 100, up to a -8 correction. That includes the mask and lenses, installed in about 10 minutes. On the Pos side we go to +3 I think. Ill have to double check on tues when I go back.

I am very nearsighted with astigmatism, but I do not use a prescription mask, and seem to see just fine when snorkeling. I have no idea why!

I wore contacts for the time we were at the beach and snorkeling. I brought disposable ones with me for my prescription and had no problems when in the water. If I had been diving in them I might of had problems. The biggest mistake I made was I did not bring non prescription sunglasses with me so I had to buy some sunglasses on the island.

You can get a pair for $20 or less at Keifer.com -both my kids are on swim team and they swim 3-6 times per week without issues with these.

I bought my son a pair on Amazon very inexpensively a few years back. They have really improved beach and water park experiences for him! Except at Kalahari in Ohio where we were told state law prohibits him from wearing them on water slides. :(

Thank you for the info and suggestions. I will check into ordering some before we cruise.
