Hi!
I've seen in a couple of books that Disney offers a "Preschooler's Vacation Kit" that helps prepare small children for WDW. Do you know about this and how to find it?
Thanks!

really? what books have you seen this in?

i've never heard of it but i'd be interested as well.

anyone know about this?

Wow, this sounds like it would exactly what I need, if someone does have info. or where 2 get it, please share!

Ok I have never heard of this...but maybe this helps you out....

this is my own "preschooler vacation survivor kit"

* stroller is must for a child between the ages of 2-4...first time at age 5 or 6...do not under-estimate the amount of walking required.

* lightweight blanket or towel and clips (clip this on your stroller to keep sun out or use when child is napping or help that child rest in stroller, plus it is a great parade spot holder on the pavement)

* inexpensive and disposable bibs (children under 4 mostly may need these) (not the chincy paper kind, but some plastic ones...should last you several days of dining)

* big package of clean and go wipes

* attach a strap to child's favorite toy and sippy/straw cup and then attach to your stroller bar to keep from losing it if child throws it

* mini bubbles

* glow or light-up wands or bracelets from home to entertain at night

* small package of crayons or color wonder markers and appropriate pad of paper for coloring at CS restaurants (most TS places do provide this w/ kid paper menu)

* small low light flashlight for dark rides or use a glow stick

* make up a child id tag and pin backwards to the back of their shirt include their name, age, parents names and cell phone #, resort you are staying at and any important health issues, ie food allergies, autistic

* some favorite snacks from home that you can't buy there ie fruit snacks, goldfish, teddy grahams

* some inexpensive surprise toys (check out the dollar bins or store)

* what to carry in the park: diaper or essential bag w/ change of clothes, bib, wipes, diapers, spare underware, hand sanitizer, snacks, cup, sunscreen...

* for older pre-schooler you can make up a special sticker guidebook showing the things you hope to do each day or print some kid friendly maps and give them a set of small star stickers. laminate the map and they can stick the stickers on each thing you. Purchase or make a simple autograph book for character meet and greets,

* for a female child bring a special princess costume from home to wear part of the day in the parks.

* room safety...if you are concerned, bring own special blankie or blow up toddler size bed, outlet covers, mini bottle of frebreze, child medications for upset stomach, tylonel, etc.

* for a reading pre-schooler, favorite book, activity or puzzle book or small handheld game (good for line distractions as well as a mini magna doodle or etch n sketch)

personalize and add your own ideas...

Thank You Mousescrapper, what an amazing list! Thank you so much for taking the time to share.

To add to the list (and hoping that others might too) some things I have heard are:

- Pipe Cleaners (good/quiet line distraction)

- Surprise candy that they have never had before

- Miniature playdough while waiting at restaurants (these should go on clearance right after Halloween as many people hand them out to trick-or-treaters)

Another good toy for in line or at restaurants is "bendaroos" or "wikistix". They're wax-covered string that sticks to itself and other hard surfaces, but come off w/o leaving marks. They're colorful and creative!

I agree - wikistix are great! I also just stumbled upon sets of cards that you can buy for wikistix with letters, numbers, and shapes on them. So, your preschooler can bend the stix in the shapes of letters and numbers using the cards as a template. You could probably make your own and laminate them too! My 3 year old is really into tracing letters and numbers now so I thought these cards were a great idea!
