Pres. Bush & More DVC Cont Rumours

Checking MousePlanet today for rehabs & closings...they list several interesting rumours:

1) the Cont. South bldg. being completely gutted & rebuilt as DVC Villas

2) New DVC units built on site of Cont's existing tennis courts

3) Pres. Bush attending a fund raiser @ Cont. on 2/17....coincidence? or is he coming to make the announcement for pre-sales of Villas @ Contemporary.

Seriously, somewhat surprised to see the rumours listed on rehab page of reputable site.

Well I'm one that is hoping this is true. I'm not a big fan of the contemp but would love monorail villa's. Would stay their with Dgrandson and we love chef mickey's. Now I just need to add on at BWV . Susan

This is what the site says:


The South Garden Wing is partially-open during refurbishment through September, 2006. Rumors indicate that the buildings may be completely gutted and rebuilt as Disney Vacation Club villas. However, another rumor states that new DVC lodgings will be built on the current site of the Disney Tennis Center at the resort, and there is no confirmation of the either rumor yet. Renovations on the rest of the resort are also underway, with the tower building being done one floor at a time and the North Garden Wing to follow, and are expected to run through October, 2006.

We stayed in the South Wing last August while they were doing renovations. They were not renovated for dVC, just redoing the rooms. I have photos of the renovations that I took from the door in the corridor separating the construction from the non-construction area.

We bought at SSR a couple of years ago, but I've had a secret hankering for BCV. But now that I've heard speculation about the Contemporary, I'm wondering which would be better as an add-on (if I had to choose, which, since I'm not loaded, I will have to do).

Any thoughts on the benefits of a DVC at the CRV? People keep mentioning the monorails, so is it really a matter of easy transportation? I guess I'm just wondering if BCV and CRV would be comparable, or if they're so different that I would want to have points at both. (a girl can dream )

I figure if they build it, all these folks will FLOOD the market trying to sell thier points so they can buy at CR. And taht is one place where I expect Buy Where You Want To Stay to REALLY matter.

It hold NO appeal for me...Villas at AK with a Savannah view... I am in. I don't think I will buy any points for anything else.

I agree with CarolA.

I think CRV, PRV or AKV will all sell spectacularily fast (if and when they materialize). I would buy for several reasons:

The 11 month HBA especially for a monorail resort.
The (assummed) 12 extra years (I'm guessing a 2054 expiration, like SSR).

I also agree with CarolA, that many users will have to sell existing contracts to justify/afford the newest resort, and that resale prices may temporarily drop, allowing for some good bargins if say BCV, or VWL is where your heart is!

Only time will tell........so hurry up!!!!!!!

Someone on the Rumors Board posted on Feb 1 that he was just back from WDW and talked to his guide there. Said guide told this person that they were trying to sell out the last stage of SSR so they could get to Contemporary Villas and then Polynesian. One more log for the rumor fire.

So how about a DVC option at every resort!(except moderate or pop/allstar)
Why not-guaranteed cash flow for Dsiney for maintenance of resorts and on property guests!

No interest here in owning at CRV - wouldn't mind a visit or two, but that's a looooong drive to get off-property.

I am geeked up for the "DVC at every Disney Resort" idea! Could you imagine the Pop Century Villas (PCV)?
