Prepurchased tickets ensure park entry?

I've been told that MK fills up early the day before Christmas and Christmas day, sometimes requiring people to be turned away. If tickets are purchased AHEAD OF TIME, would this ensure your entry into the park regardless of your arrival time? Unfortunately, we can't arrive until late morning.

As I understand it, prepurchased tickets (park hoppers, etc.), DO NOT insure entry when parks reach capacity.

Right, a ticket ensures entry to the park, but not on a specific date. If MK is full the day you want to go, you can either go to another park or save the day for another time.

Being a guest at a Disney resort used to get you guaranteed admission on days the park gates closed due to capacity. I'm not sure if that is still true or not.

More importantly, I can't imagine WANTING to get in if there are that many people in there!!

Gem.....I have to agree with you. I don't want to be in there with that many people! (Shudders) Unfortunately, it's the only time we can go and take grandson who will be visiting for Christmas. I'm excited about taking him but dread the thought of being turned away due to a filled up park. DH works nights and we can't leave at the crack of dawn. Poor guy deserves a few winks I suppose! We'll just have to see what happens. Anyone have some idea during holiday time when MK generally seems to fill up???::MinnieMo

As stated earlier, having tickets in advance doesn't guarantee you entry to a park. When it's full, it's full. Staying at a Disney resort gives you a bit more of a chance, since the park closes to off-site visitors first, then on-site. At a certain point, though, it will close to everyone, regardless of where you're staying.

If MK closes at capacity, it will generally do so before 11am. On certain days (Christmas Day and the day after -- particularly this year, since Christmas is on a Saturday) it will close before 10am. However, once the parade is over, the park begins to thin out a bit. So, if you can't get in in the morning, just hit another park for a few hours and come back after 3pm. You'll miss the parade, but you'll probably get into the park.
