If I were to prepay more money in addition to the room costs at the All Stars, am I able to use this for meals? In other words, can we charge meals back to the room? If our balance at the end of trip amounts to less than what we have prepaid how do they handle that? Thanks for the info!

We did this in Jan at ASMO. But I had my park pass on my room key and it had charging privileges. I assume that it is the same for anyone. You can leave a cc # or prepay with cash, its very convenient and on check out day we had a credit. You do actually have to go to front desk to check out if they owe you cash, as opposed to a CC.

Glad to know this too, as I was planning on just sending money to hotel also, and figure if I paid over the amount owed, that I would just use that money towards the room key expenses that occure while there. Thanks for asking it. ;)

I try to do this as well. It makes my trips better, as when I get home, I don't have any bills to pay.

When you make the payment, be sure to get a revised receipt showing the payment. CRO may not send you new receipts, saying it is in their system. I don't trust them, so I always get them to send me a new receipt showing what I have paid.

When you get to the hotel, in order for you to have charging privileges to your room, you must have a credit card to put down. No matter how much overage you have sent in, you cannot touch it, unless you put a credit card down.

Also, if you sent the money in by check, they will return it by check, etc. So, don't expect to check in, and get cash.

Keep in mind too that while a CRO reservation allows you to overpay before arrival like evryone is talking about, a WDTC reservation doesn't. If you overpay on their reservation, they will automatically send you back a refund on the overage.

Mogs30:

Never send an advance payment directly to the hotel. The Disney resorts do not download your reservation into their computer systems until 5 days before you arrive. If you send them a payment, they won't have any idea who you are and will have to forward the money to CRO. Trust me when I tell you that you really do not want that to happen!

I have sent extra cash down on many trips over the years and have never had to use a credit card at check in to access it. They simply set up your room charge against that cash deposit instead of the leaving the credit card. I did get a CM one time that didn't know how to do this so he just asked his manager ...no problem.
Before we had DVC we always did this so we'd having the extra waiting for us to use.

Don't know. Last year, they needed a cc. in order to access. I said no reason, but they insisted anyway. No problem, but, just so you know.
