Preparing Ham Steaks

I just spread a little brown sugar on both sides and heat up in a fry pan. Super easy!

no sweetner is needed.
but med to med low heat in a large enough pan. making sure to brown each side.
It takes awhile but well worth it.
Also i soak the ham in water for about 30-hr changing water once or twice.
this removes some of the salt.

Country Gravy (packaged stuff is fine).
Add in the drippings from the ham pan (deglase the pan)
and you have a ugly looking gravy that is finger licking good

I put a little bit of butter, a small amount of water, some pepper, some worchestershire sauce and I cook them in the frying pan for just a few minutes on each side.

Ham Steaks are our quick and easy peasy meal. I rinse in the sink and we put some olive oil and garlic in a hot pan and add the ham steaks. I cook them quickly on high heat just to get them hot and some brown on the outside. If they cook too long they get dry.

Or DH will just throw it in a hot grill.

We serve it with some flavored noodles and a veggie.

We have no dinner plan for tonight, maybe I need to pick up some ham steaks.

You can also make a little glaze with Coke. Pour it over it when you have it in the pan and let it cook with them.

Are you talking about center cut ham steaks?? If you are, I put them straight on my Weber grill, no seasonings. Leave on just long enough to put grill marks on both sides. Delicious!!!

Also, I have found that the ones with the bone in are juicier and much better tasting than the ones without. These are usually already cooked so you really just need to add any additional flavor and get them hot.

I like mine grilled or fried without anything on them - just plain salty ham!

DH and Kids like them baked in a brown sugar mustard sauce:

1 C. packed brown sugar
1/4 C. yellow mustard
2 Tbsp. Cider vinegar
1/2 Tsp. ground cloves

Place the ham steaks onto a cookie sheet with an edge
cover with the glaze - reserve some sauce for dipping at the table
Bake at 350 until the glaze bubbles and the ham starts to curl slightly

I'm lazy - since it's only for me - LOL..

I just fry it - then the last few minutes I throw in some pineapple rings, some maraschino cherries, juice from both, and let it simmer on low a few minutes more..:goodvibes

Of course the last time I bought one, I almost fell over when I saw the price.. Luckily I can get more than one meal out of it though..:goodvibes

I LOVE me some Ham Steaks...I like mine either fried, or tossed on the grill..

I would love some recipes though for glaze options!

I put them in a pyrex, take a can of cut or ring pineapples in its own juice (not the syrup), strain the juice into a bowl, add about a tablespoon or 2 or brown sugar to the juice, stir it. Put the pineapples on top of the ham steak, pour the sugar water mixture over it, then bake it 350 10 mins on one side, 10 mins on the other.

I like to use pineapple, but if I'm out I use Marmalade. :goodvibes Good with honey mustard.

I mix together yellow mustard and brown sugar, then shlack the ham steak with it.

Cover and bake at 350 for 30-40 minutes and viola!

Take a can of pineapple chunks and dump it into a strainer and have the juice go into a bowl. Put the ham steak in a frying pan, put the pineapple on top, and then put in some Maple Syrup and cook.

Drink the pinapple juice.
