We were at the GF a few days ago to see the gingerbread house. It was beautiful! Anyway I had seen on the food channel that they have gingerbread houses to buy for $25. Well, that must have been the price 20 years ago! LOL! They didn't have any houses for sale but they did have cookies. I bought two small cookies, approx 2 X 2 inches, and one medium cookie, about 3 x 4 inches. These three cookies cost me $29!! :earseek: I hadn't even thought to ask for the prices because I figure how bad could it be? :confused3 After hearing on TV that the houses were going for $25, I thought the cookies might set me back $10 at the most. Boy, was I wrong! :rotfl2: So just a warning for those that might want a cookie to be prepared!

Very expensive cookies! Thanks for the heads up! I'm baking some right now!

We got the block of gingerbread with that is coated in chocolate on one side. YUMMY! I'm eating it right now. It was $5.50 and had 4 huge pieces in it.

Oh, and in concierge they had yummy gingerbread every night. One coated in powder sugar and one in chocolate. It smelled divine.

And, yes, the houses were very expensive. I got the price list from the Gingerbread house for all the items if anyone needs specifics.

Do they sell decorated sugar cookies there too or just gingerbread?

I would appreciate the price list TripleFigs!

Here is the Gingerbread House brochure from the Grand Floridian.

We cannot wait to see it!! I guess we will be bringing our own gingerbread cookies!!

When we were there this week they didn't have most of what is on that menu. They had cookie ornaments, white chocolate snowmen, chocolate lollipops, and fudge. That's it. The CM working said they try to restock every day but there is no guarantee that they have everything. I was trying to get a house but called three days in a row only to be told that they haven't gotten anymore in yet. I would have gladly paid $59 for a complete house instead of $29 for 3 cookies! LOL!

Is the GF the only resort that has the houses for sale?

My DS wants one soo bad... He told me today that, while we are at WDW his class is making ginger bread houses. He said that is ok cause we are going to BUY the disney one, right!

UHHHH.... Oh boy. Look what I have created...

I believe I saw some for sale at BC in their gift shop last week. They were in the $30 range.

We just got back and had the $3.50 gingerbread cookie people, yummy.
The BC had the gingerbread houses for $24.99 or $25.99, I think the sign said they were available at their merchandise store.

oooh YES.. thanks

Hopefully I can still get one....

I will see if I can call the store and get one in the room after we arrive.....

My EXACT thoughts as soon as I read that!!! LOL!!! :rotfl: I guess GREAT minds think :teacher: alike!

I was at the GF yesterday for Tea and the line for buying something at the gingerbread house was huge. I'm estimating a minimum of a half an hour. Must have been at least 50 people. We started tea at 3:40 and by the time we rolled out of there at 5:10, the line was down to about 15 or so. I think the sign said they were open until 10pm. Might just be how you hit the crowds.

The house was gorgeous. I kept telling my non-DStepMother (n-DSM) that things were made from chocolate, royal icing, gingerbread and she didn't believe me. Not only that, but when we examined it closely, she wasn't even that impressed. Sigh - I think the magic of Disney is wasted on some.

That should be sent to Jay Leno for that bit he does every Monday evenings.

LOL

We bought one of the large gingerbread ornaments a couple of years ago. It broke on the way home but I superglued it. Makes me smile every year when we take it out of its Grand Floridian package and put it on the tree.

I bought some of the white chocolate princess lollipops and they were very good. I did not like the gingerbread shingles, I thought they were pretty dry. I know that they make them every day, and I waited about 5 days before eating them, maybe, that was the problem. The gingerbread houses at the Beach Club were about $25 and looked to be just a smaller version of the ones at the GF. If you really want one from the GF, I would call the bakery and see if you can order one. That is what I ended up doing after going to the GF and finding out they were out of the houses.

Thanks for the price list. This was one thing my son tralked about doing while we were there but didn't have time to do it last week. I would have fallen over if I had to shell out $59. He wanted to get it on the first day and eat alittle each day we were there.
