Preordering kids meals at BOG

I really thought I had this all figured out, but then went to preorder for my family for our May 4 lunch at BOG, and got completely confused! Our party is 4 adults and 2 children.

I thought I read that children do NOT get a dessert here if using the dining plan? So I was prepared to not order them a cupcake. However, I clicked a link about if we are using the dining plan. It says to be sure to order an entree, drink, and dessert for each person on the dining plan. So, do I order them a dessert or not? It would be awesome if they COULD get a dessert, but I just don't know... I want our dining plan to cover it all, with no extra cost out of pocket. My husband and I will share with the kids if they can't get their own. If anyone has clarification on this, I would REALLY appreciate it!

Also, it shows the amount due when we check in for our reservation. Since we are using the dining plan, this is basically irrelevant, right? The will just scan our MagicBands and it should just cover our meals? Or is there something else special I have to do while ordering online to let them know that we will be using the dining plan?

Thanks in advance for any help!

I've seen before where the reservation was simply made for a party of six as opposed to four adults and two children and it caused the children's menu not to appear when you're trying to pre-order in MDE. I would give Disney Dining a quick call and have them double-check your reservation to make sure that it's set up with the kids' ages. They should definitely get to choose a dessert!

Also, if you just click the option to pay for your meal upon arrival, you'll be able to scan your MagicBands there for payment from your DDP.

Oh! And, you'll also have the option to confirm and/or change your order upon your arrival as well!

Hope that helps!

The children's menu does appear, and I selected my girls meals from it. However, I know I have read on here before that the kids don't get to pick a dessert. However, they can choose to have a cookie as their side which kind of counts as a dessert. Well, my children have a peanut/tree nut allergy, so the cookie is not an option for them. Since the cookie was listed as a "side" instead of a "dessert" anyway, I don't really know what to make of it.

Kind of a side question that is totally related....do kids usually get to pick a dessert at quick service locations? I know that adults always get a dessert. However, I am just confused about what to do here. There is nothing shown from Disney saying I shouldn't order my kids a desert. It all makes it look like it should be included in the DDP. However, I know from here that normally the cupcake is NOT a part of the DDP for the kids for lunch.

I am just so confused.... :( If I hadn't been on these boards I would have just ordered them cupcakes. However, now, I don't want to order them and then be stuck either paying OOP or using snack credits.

My guess is that the kids meals do not come with a dessert, but the option to order dessert is there for those who want it.

My DD is a Disney "adult" now, but if she were younger and ordering off the kids menu, I'd want to be able to order her a dessert, even if it meant paying extra for it (she also has nut allergies and is so excited about being able to have the cupcakes at BOG).

I have debated ordering them cupcakes anyway just because I know I can get ones that are safe for them...which is rare! However, I keep getting stuck on the fact that my girls don't really eat and would probably just lick a little frosting off and be done! However, maybe I am wrong!?

For the kids on the kids menu it usually includes the entree, 2 sides and a child's beverage. Typically the sides are things like apple slices or veggie sticks, but if it says something (e.g. fries or cookie can be substituted}, you could order the cookie (at BOG at lunch) in place of a side and that would be the dessert. The cupcakes are not included in the kids lunch at BOG. If you pre-order one you can use a snack credit, pay OOP, or cancel the cupcake when you arrive at the restaurant.

You have to pay for the kids' cupcakes. We were on the dining plan a few weeks ago. DH & I had it included in our credit, but we had to pay for our kids' cupcake.

When I just ordered online, it only let me select one side. Weird... Either way, thanks everyone :) Now I am thinkingn maybe we will get my girls cupcakes and just use snack credits for it... I guess I have time to decide!

We went to BOG for lunch last June. The kids meal came with a cookie and did not allow us to substitute a cupcake. I preordered the cupcake anyway and then paid OOP for it. I will say this too - 4 meals + 4 cupcakes for the 4 of us was a lot of food and some of it went to waste (1/2 of 2 of the cupcakes which broke my heart since they were so yummy but we were all full).

if you are thinking that they may lick the icing off, please be sure that you look at photos of the cupcakes at BOG so you know what you are getting. These are not the standard "cupcakes" that many would expect.

Can you substitute fries for the green beans or soup that comes with the grilled cheese? DD is very picky and the only thing she'll eat is the grilled cheese, but won't eat the green beans or soup. I know the adult entrees come with fries so wondering if that's an option for the kids.
