Premium Annual Pass (PAP) discount this year?

Can someone tell me please when DVC announced the PAP discount last year? I believe it was $399/adult, and I think we bought the vouchers in the fall and activated the tickets when we were there in December.

However, I don't remember the precise timing of the initial announcement.

Have there been any rumors or announcements yet as to whether this offer will be made again this year?

I have to say, if their goal was to get DVC members to go more frequently, mission accomplished. By the end of this year, we will have made 8 trips this year of varying lengths of stay and in various configurations of our immediate family. As a result, the amount of money we will have spent at the WDW resort this year is approximately 4-5 times what we have spent in previous years.

And yet, I am hoping they'll make the offer again this year.

It was announced Sep 12, 2012 with sales to begin Oct 1, 2012. There have been no rumors created by anyone from Disney that it will be repeated.

Can you downgrade a renewal? (PAP renewed to AP) If so, you could do that for the same price.

Yes. You can upgrade/downgrade to any level of annual pass product you are eligible for at renewal time and pay the renewal rate for the pass selected.

Okay I called MS yesterday to purchase 2 annual passes for my February 2014 trip. Was told by the cast member that I should wait in case Disney decides to do the "special" again. She also said she has been telling most people who are calling in to wait.

I wish I knew more backstory about the Disney management, you guys must have been members for a long while. I crave insider knowledge!

If they do offer the PAP discounted passes again, we will definitely buy our vouchers for next year. We just cashed in our vouchers from last years special that was the sweetest "renewal" ever since it was already paid for last year, plus the savings was so awesome. Although since we have had PAPs we do go a lot more and spend a lot more money, I guess they @ Disney already know that.

I bought an AP last year and picked it up on 10/29. The next day I decided to upgrade when we were at DHS to take advantage of the higher discounts when making purchases. Went to guest services and upgraded with no problem. I don't see any problem with purchasing an AP and if the PAP is offered again not being able to upgrade. Would love to see it offered but they did take away the 20 percent discount.

You got lucky! They told us it wasn't transferrable and we went through hell trying to upgrade ours!!

Since I think "enhanced FP" is one of the all time bad ideas I am hoping the train shows up soon.

(I can't wait to read the outcry when folks who go to Orlando and spend $100 on a ticket at the gate discover that the only "fast passes" they can have are for things like Mickey's Philharmagic....)
