Premium and Premier AP question/ Disney math help

Quick, slightly off topic question about the past Costco deal. What were the dates that a person from outside So Cal could buy an AP from Costco with gift card? A friend last year told me she did that. I was bummed because I couldn't replicate at the end of 2010, figuring it was a dead deal.

I think that promotion ran in late 2008- Oct 2009. I vaguely recall that if your birthday fell in the right time frame, you could combine the birthday fun card with it and get the pass for $144. Really a great deal for a deluxe AP.

I know that California does not apply sales tax to theme park tickets while Florida does. Does this apply to the Premier pass as well? Does anyone know if it is it slightly cheaper to buy in California compared to Florida because of the sales tax?

Thanks. Figures, our family went in summer 2008, skipped a year, and went again at Christmas 2010. During that trip with decided to upgrade PHs for an AP - it's a Disney year for us.

If you buy the Premier AP at the DLR, you still have to pay the Florida tax to the Premier AP. The price of the Premier AP will be the same at WDW if you buy it at DL. I first thought that the DLR won't charge sales tax, but since the Premier is also another part of the WDW AP, the DLR has to charge sales tax for the Premier AP.

Can I buy a 4-day park hopper for DLR for $201, use it for two days, and upgrade to a DAP on Day 3 for $128? Will there be a $20 DVC discount when I upgrade to the DAP?

My reasoning here is that Day 2 is a block-out day for the DAP, but Day 3 is not.

Can I then upgrade the DAP to a Premier Pass at WDW in November? I wouldn't get to take advantage of any dining discounts with a PAP, but I could save $ on my Day 3 hotel reservation at the GCH.

I can't believe I am 34 days away. I have to figure this out soon .

Just lost my whole post I had typed, so will try again. I'm going to WDW next month. I have a Premium AP from DL that expires in December. I'm thinking of upgrading to a Premier so I can get the parking advantage. I know the difference in price is $241. I'm making monthly payments on my pass. If I wanted to upgrade, do I just pay the $241 difference and continue the monthly payments?

I'm fairly certain when upgrading to the premier you have to pay in full.

We upgraded to the Premier at DL from our DL PAP last December and just finished paying our monthly payments. Our AP expires in June. So, at that time, at least, you paid the difference but could continue monthly payments when upgrading. -- Suzanne
