Planning for next Christmas 2011/New Year's 2012 vacation...when do you think the points will return to Value Season after the holidays? For this coming year, it goes back to Value on Sunday, January 2. Well, next year, January 1 will be that Sunday. What do you think they will do?

And when will we see this officially? I can't remember when that info becomes available!

Thanks you for your input.

In that situation, I would expect 2012 to follow the 2011 pattern regardless of which day of the week the date falls on. If 1/2/11 is Value season for the resort you are looking at, then 1/2/12 will most likely be Value season as well.

For the last couple of years DVC has not released new point charts until just before the 11 month booking window. You may not see them until late January 2011.

Adventure (lowest point cost) season always begins Jan 1 at WDW resorts. At Aulani and VGC it will begin January 2 in 2011 and my guess is it will likely begin Jan 3 for 2012 (the official day off is Friday, Dec 31, when Jan 1 is a Sat as it is in 2011, but it is Monday Jan 2 when Jan 1 is a Sunday and thus they are likely to include Jan 1 and Jan 2 in the premier season at VGC and Aulani for 2012)

. . . .

The 2011 point charts did not come out until mid January (actually around the 20th). This release date was the latest in the history of the DVC. If there are no plans for a point reallocation in 2012, then it is possible that the charts could be available sooner. Hopefully they will be released before the 11 month window opens for reservations for January 2012. I believe that would be for reservations made on December 26, 2011. The people that made them these early reservations in 2010 didn't really know how many points their reservations would cost because the point charts were not out. It continued that way for about 3 weeks until the 2011 point charts were released.

We are just using the 2011 point charts as a guideline knowing that the points could go up or down for week.

We've been in that boat more than once, specifically for our Cruise in 2005. Frustrating.

The thing is, if we actually CAN do this big trip we are planning for 2011/2012, that will impact what we do for THIS Christmas season. I'd just like to know, you know? If I had a trip planned late in the year, I'd sometimes have 23 months notice, but barely 11? That's just not the same.

Don't get me wrong, I love my DVC, but the planner in me is somewhat squeched right now. ;)

Well, look at this way, do what you want for this Christmas and realize that you have only so many points left for 2012. And now that you can do a one time purchase of points (up to 24) you could use those points to cover any shortages you might have in 2012 when the point charts come out. And if you really under estimate you might have to reduce the number of days for your trip in 2012.

I try to remind myself that it's not worth all of the anxiety worrying about whether we have or don't have enough points as we can always adjust our trips by deducting from one and adding to the other. I know easier said than done but healthier if you believe it.

Good Luck.

I was just coming to ask a question about 2011 points. I was looking at my guide book for next April trying to decide where we might like to stay. When I just logged on to the dvc member I looked at the 2011 points charts and discovered that the week that were need to go has been moved to premire, jumping up a ton of points. Not sure how this will affect our planning, we will now need to borrow points from 2012 in order to go. Does this happen often? I am wondering if Easter falls during this specific time next year? Last week of April?

Are you talking about the DVC points chart or the seasons that Disney uses for their hotel rooms?

DVC points charts/seasons are different then those used by DRC when you book a DVC villa through them for cash.

In 2011, Easter Sunday is April 24.

Yeah, I try not to grumble, but we're not in a position to buy more points - otherwise ALL problems would be solved, right?? :goodvibes

One thing I did notice late last night in looking at the 2011 points in the little booklet that came in the big book...all the other resorts go back to Value/Adventure on January 1, but VGC, which is what we are looking at, go back to Value/Adventure on January 2. Weird.

It looks like we should be able to do what we want, so I'm happy. Thanks for everyone's input!

The week before Easter and the week after Easter is always Premier Season for WDW DVC Resorts, no matter when Easter falls.

Thanks! After posting I looked up the date for Easter, that is what I found! The last week in April is school vacation week for us. I think if we go, it will be during winter break instead of spring break. I just hoe it isn't as cold as it was last winter in Fl!!!
