Premier Pass

Thank you! Thank you!:worship:
The WDW tickets will not have been used at all. I just wasn't sure they had the means to "read" how much the WDW tickets are worth - I think I'll bring my receipt of purchase (bought them from Undercover Tourist last week!) just in case.
I suppose I WILL have to buy them each one day tickets to even get to the AP center, right?:confused3 And then they will credit the one day DL ticket AND the WDW hoppers toward the Premier AP?
Yes, I've been to DLR twice with my Premier and know all about the patience involved with it (I was one of the ones that was upgraded in March). I was with my sister when she purchased a Premier in June and the initial CM didn't even know how to sell her one! They had to get a supervisor.
It's a good thing I'm a patient person. :) Thank you for your advice!! :thumbsup2

I too was one of the people Upgraded but never got the pass in the mail. It took three weeks to get ours, but we got them. I just know with the WDW tickets it is going to take some time. My guess would be upwards of two hours. Also, I would suggest going to Guest Services when you arrive so they can either tell you for sure they can be used to buy a new pass or they can call the AP center and speek with a lead or supervisor to get a final answer. Then you should be able to get a name of who gave you the info. Sorry for this bit of sarcasm but I have to do it, have fun.

You can. They have a way to figure out how many days are left on your ticket and what it is worth. Just take them to one of the AP centers and they will figure it out. One word of advice, be very understanding when you are there. This process may take you some time, but it can be done.

Is this a change? When the Premier AP was announced on the Disney Parks blog last March, the response to question 70 was "Yes, you can apply the value of the 8-Day MYW ticket toward the purchase of a Premier Passport. The upgrade has to be done at WDW (DLR can not apply a credit for WDW MYW tickets)."

To make the PPs situation more complicated, for a MYW ticket purchased from UT, if you have not used the ticket, Disney will only give you credit for what UT bought the ticket, not what you paid. And if you do use it first at WDW, I was told by e- mail that there is no credit towards the upgrade from a DL AP to the Premier.

We bought MYW tickets last week, which looks like they are no help in upgrading our DL AP to a Premier in Oct. We may have to hold on to them until we need to buy tickets in 2012. -- Suzanne

Funny, because in the AP center they have this whole chart of how much WDW tickets are worth and so forth. I know this because I saw it with my eyes when they were issuing my pass back in march and the computers needed a value if both my passes. Interesting.

I hope that is still the case! It wouldn't be the first time that Disney corporate didn't know what was actually happening at the Parks.

We will definitely take our unused WDW passes to DL in September to see if we can get value for the upgrade there before we head to WDW in Oct.

It just seemed so strange to me that the ticketing office at WDW was adamant that you could not receive any upgrade value for a WDW ticket if you already had a DL AP. It would not be unusual for a DL AP visiting WDW to decide they were having such a good time they wanted to upgrade to a Premier and plan another visit. Isn't that sort of the point to having a Calif-Florida pass: to encourage more visits? -- Suzanne

I may have been misunderstanding your post. If I did I do apologize. Anyway, if you are currently holding a pass, this really may complicate matters. I thought you did not have any type of DL admission. Now I really do not know. You may not be able to use both for a upgrade.

Hey all!! Just have a question, that from the sounds of it you guys will know best.

First off- How much is the tax to buy the Premier Pass at WDW. I don't believe you have to pay tax in Cali on it, but i could be wrong, so if I'm there first I'll upgrade it there, (already have Premium)

Second... So you CAN use your MYW tickets to upgrade, so for example, in October we are going to WDW on MYW plus free dining. So I can take the cost of the MYW tickets and apply it to the premier pass? Is that correct. Do I need to do it before I first enter the parks?? I think this has been answered but I got a little confused.

THANKS in advance for your help!! :thumbsup2

The cost of the Premier Pass is $722.75, whether you buy it in Florida or CA.

You can use your MYW to upgrade to the Premier. You get the highest credit by using the MYW ticket first. This gets you credit equal to the gate price of your ticket, including the recent price increase. If you upgrade first, you get the amount you paid Disney or if you bought the ticket from a ticket broker like Undercover Tourist, you get credit for the value the broker paid Disney.

I think CCCDisney is looking to upgrade using only a MYW ticket. I am looking to upgrade my DL AP along with a MYW pass.

Purple Figment reported she upgraded a WDW AP along with a DL ticket at DL. -- Suzanne

So I would go in first and then I should upgrade after I'm already in the park? Is that what you mean?

sorry dumb question:

what restaurant or park store discounts do you get with the Premier Pass? (or is there a link someone can direct me to)

I would suggest using the DL AP center and not the CA location, they seem to have higher level supervisors in DL that can help smooth thinks out. Most areas are now familiar with card but some still need a manager override to give you the discount.

I would allmost completely agree with the above except, on Friday I had one of the cashiers at the Pizza place ask me if I had a AP. I handed him my Premier Pass. The next words out of his mouth were "May I have the pass that you used to enter the park with today." I told him this was it. It was obvious he had no clue what so ever what kind of pass I gave him. He just ended up giving me the Club 33 discount which is the same.

The DLR AP center got dragged through the mud quite publicly after the Premier Pass launched. While WDW was issuing the ticket, DLR was telling guests it was impossible to do and that nothing could be done. They tried to say it wasn't their fault, defer to WDW, but they wouldn't themselves even call WDW ticketing who technically controls the ticket.

Some folks made a big stink, myself included, in the first few weeks for the AP center not at all being on task or informed. They appear to have gotten a good talking-to by the powers that be once they caught wind of the backlash. Hence the ticket exchange charts and such and the new policy/proceedure for dealing with upgrades and issuing the pass.

DLR didn't expect to many, if any, of this pass. They were given all the info and computer systems and thought it would be a WDW thing and they just needed to make the changes for the gates and some minor notes "oh, you might see this pass once in a blue moon." They got their butts handed to them over it.

And further - AP processing center and its staff? DLR has now committed to switching to WDW ticketing system and the biometric gate system. They'll do it when they refurb DCA's gate in the upcoming transition. You know which department gets eliminated in that process? The AP center.

My understanding is that, at WDW, the only place to buy or upgrade to the Premier Pass is at Guest Relations at the main entrance to each of the 4 parks (not the IG at Epcot) or DTD. So technically, you go into the park with you MYW ticket, but then do the upgrade after exiting the park. Best of luck -- Suzanne

We were within the first month of the new pass and had passes for both locations but did not get automatically upgraded. It took them several hours to find the right person in the management chain to figure it out. They gave us a pass for the front gate and three sets of fast passes. We would check back about once an hour and they would give us more fast passes and tell us to give them another hour. In the end it worked out very well, several fast passes and the expire date was the latest of our two passes so we will get 2 additional trips to WDW for free. As a matter of fact they handled it so well that we stopped by city hall and filled out a CM complement card on our way out.

I was there day 1, and much of week 1, with the same issue and them saying there was nothing they could do - I ended up calling WDW ticketing and telling them all about the response and they didn't sound very happy about what DLR had done.. not to mention I posted it to a few message boards.

Was just at the AP processing center in DL getting a DL PAP for my son and I asked about the 15 month renewel bonus for my Premier Pass. The CM (who was really nice about it btw) didn't know asked her supervisor and they said that if I renew it at DL I would only get 12 months but if I renewed at WDW I would get 15 which seemed pretty bizarre.

Also has anyone ever been asked to show ID with the Premier at the gate? Happened to me at the DCA entrance yesterday. I told the CM I think the picture comes up when you scan the card. She said she still needs to see ID. This is the first time that ever happened. Wouldn't be a big deal but it took me a couple of minutes to find my ID because I wasn't expecting it (I expect it when getting a discount so I have that and my credit card out when Im in a store). Guess Ill just have my ID out now at the gate also, just seemed weird.

Where did you hear that DLR is switching over? And why would the AP Center get eliminated because of fingerprint scanners?

Al Lutz reported it last week on Miceage.com. The guy is very accurate with info that gets posted. When it comes to being IDed, it has only happened at the Mickey and Friends Parking. In all fairness I was told when I got mine ID would be needed to get in, but that has not happened yet. My DW and I should have been automatically upgraded in March as well, but we had a three week ordeal getting our passes. I really can't blame anyone at DL for the problems when the program first rolled out. I blame Disney upper management. The CM were all hit by suprise. None of them knew this pass was coming out. Bob Iger announces the pass at the Shareholder meeting one day and the next day it is available. No one at DL had any training, and I know this as my friends mom works backstage at DL and has many a friend at the AP center were she used to be a supervisor. See the thing that gets me about that is they could have offered training well before this pass came out. Since I had a WDW pass for at least five years before this wonderful pass came out, I know when my Premier pass was made. The date in the upper right shows when it was printed and put into the WDW system. Since mine was printed in Jan. if 2010, someone knew about this pass. So Disney Upper management decided to keep it secret and offer no training what so ever.
