Premier Pass Question

So how many times can you upgrade your AP? DBF bought me a deluxe AP for Christmas. I plan on using for the first time this Thursday, but I also wanted to upgrade to Premium. I then wanted to upgrade to Premier while in WDW in April. I have two WDW trips booked this year and plan on two other long weekends in DLR after this week's.

Is it possible to upgrade it twice? And I read somewhere that APs for WDW have additional taxes while DLR ones do not? Is that true?

TIA!

If there is a next level AP available, you can upgrade to it. However, if you KNOW you will be wanting to upgrade all the way to a Premier, why not just save a step and upgrade all the way up in the beginning?

As for the taxes... Florida state law is such that APs are taxed. CA state law is such that they are not. When it comes to the Premier, it does not matter where you get it. The price is the same and accounts for FL tax on a portion of the pass, but that's Disney's concern, not yours. :goodvibes

P.S. This thread is over a year old. I would double-check any information on it that you are replying on to make sure nothing has changed in that time.

An extra $250 is not in the budget for this post-holiday trip :rotfl:

So even if I were to to upgrade to premier in March at DLR, they would still charge the taxes because it's also a FL AP?

I am seriously going to burst! I can't contain the excitement knowing how many trips are possible with that thing!

If it's issued at DL they associate it with your photo, but the photo is not printed on the pass. The gate CMs can see your photo on their little screen.

Sorry if this is a little off topic, but it seems like an appropriate time and place to make the general statement that it is much better to purchase this pass in DLR for later use in WDW than vice versa. DH and I were very upset to discover during our recent trip to DLR that since we purchased ours in WDW, DLR has no way associate a photo with our passes. This means that every time we are in and out of a DLR park, we have to present ID, which is not at all convenient. I can't believe that Disney did nothing to prepare every card sold for both systems of identification, since clearly anyone who purchases this particular pass has the intention if visiting both locations. It wouldn't have been difficult to equip the passes sold in WDW with the same bar code that allows the passes in DLR to be aseociated with a photo.

Good to know. I'll do my upgrading at DLR.

It worked! Thank you!! I had read that someone else could only get in using the middle four, but that it had the expiration date wrong. I did this and got in, but it had said my pass was expired... I just figured the system thought it was too long past the expiration date now. Anyway, now it has the right date and I'm in... thanks so much :goodvibes

So what did you do exactly? I have been trying for months and nothing has worked. I tried putting in the bar code at the bottom followed by the last 4 and 5 digits of the Tr: code at the top and still nothing.

indayMichelle, there is one cost for the Premier AP. In that cost, Disney has accounted for the tax that must be collected for the state of FL for your AP which is valid in both states.

Yay for being excited about Disney!

Again, this thread is over a year old. The way to access the site may be different now. Have you called Disney to ask them how to sign in?

I bought my daughter's premier pass in WDW and we had the same problem, but of course she is a child and had no ID so we got the third degree everytime we would enter a turnstile. After the second day we went to one of the ticket booths and had them issue her a new premier pass that will associate a photo and it took only 3 minute for them to do that. It was smooth sailing through the turnstiles after that.

The cost is the cost is the cost. Doesn't matter where you get it or upgrade to it.

I'd see if you can get a new pass printed.

Even if I only have a lanyard with me, I'm bringing my ID with me in that lanyard. So after the second time this happens, I'd just pull out my pass and my ID. Doesn't sound so inconvenient to me. Since it is to you, see if you can get a new one printed.

Of course, to use the discounts you'll still have to show ID, because the cash registers have never been able to see your picture, and they want to make sure you are you.

We actually make it a point to not cart our IDs with our passes, since if a pass is lost, you need to present ID to replace it. That's why it is inconvenient. As for presenting ID when seeking a discount, our wallets are out to make purchases anyway, so it isn't inconvenient.

I am very interested to see the suggestion to have new passes made, however, especially since we talked to three different people about the issue and this was not encouraged. In fact, we were told it was a big hassle to reprint the passes. I think we will try this when we are there at the end of the month. Thanks! :goodvibes

This was not true for us. Our DL passes expired before our trip to WDW. We bought our Premier passes during our WDW trip in October 2010. We were fully prepared for a mess when we used them at DL in December 2010 based on posts we had seen. We were very surprised when there were no issues at all. When going through the DL entrance, our old DL pass pictures would show up on the screen. YMMV, and it may be an issue if this were the first pass purchased as there would be no picture to attach to it.

Does anybody know if one can take an unused WDW ticket to upgrade to a Premier Pass at DLR? Or what value they might apply to the Premier Pass? I know what I paid but its not printed on the ticket. :confused3

Here's the story:
So I just got our WDW tickets in the mail today! :cool1: We'll be using expiring 10 day hoppers on our December trip to the World.

DH & I have DLR Deluxe APs that expire in September, so we'll use our APs for our quick trip in June, WDW tickets for that trip, then next year when we go to DLR we'll start new APs. We're set.

DS5's DLR AP expired after our last trip, and we're thinking about an impromptu trip to DLR next week, plus our Carsland opening weekend trip (which I'd originally just planned on buying a 3 day pass for). So put together 2 DLR trips + 1 WDW trip and you have the price of a Premier AP ... problem being I already bought the WDW ticket before I knew that DH would want a 2nd DLR trip ...

If we're not going to be able to upgrade the ticket we bought I'll probably just get him a Deluxe DLR AP. Somehow I have a feeling upgrading might be easier in Florida.

Anyhow, if anybody has done this, or something similar, it would be good to know.

I believe someone here posted that they used an unused WDW MYW ticket at DL to upgrade to a Premier. If you bought it from Disney, there should be no problem getting the full amount you paid credited. However, if you bought it from a legitimate ticket reseller, you may only get credit for what the ticket reseller paid Disney, which may be less than you paid.

If you get a DL AP, I have been told I cannot combine it with a WDW ticket to upgrade to a Premier. -- Suzanne
