On the disneyworld premier pass page it says you get 20% dining discount. It doesn't list any of the restaurants so I'm not sure which restaurants are included. When you look at the Annual pass benefit guide for 2016 it says you get 10% dining discount and lists a handful of restaurants. The guide doesnt list any of the Premier pass benefits or locations. Since it is the premier pass...and it says 20% discount...are ALL restaurants available for a discount? Can you use the discount on snack carts/locations? This leads me to my next question. Tables in Wonderland offers a 20% discount, including alcohol, with a handful of restaurants listed and has a couple of blackout dates that fall into my trip dates. Does the Premier pass also apply blackout dates for discounts? Do I even need to purchase tables in wonderland if I get the premier pass?

You would still need to purchase Tables in Wonderland if you're looking for discounts at most table service locations. The benefits of the Premier Passport are identical to those you'd receive if you purchased a Platinum Plus AP for WDW and the Signature (I believe) AP for DL.

We have found that the TIW gives us the discount at all the Disney owned table service restaurants. It does not work at the ones that are owned and operated by some else - like Yak and Yeti or Rainforest for example. At those places we receive a 10% discount with our Annual Pass. I believe there are also some Disney owned table service restaurants that offer a 10% discount with just the Annual Pass but we have always used TIW. We find it more than pays for itself over a couple trips as you can use it for your whole party up to 10 and you only have to have one. The person whose name is on the TIW does have to be present to use it.We have the Platinum Pass and this is the level we have had for years - No waterparks - I don't believe that is what it has always been called. The only black out dates we have ever encountered for TIW were on Easter day. Hope that helps a little.

TiW does work at some non Disney owned restaurants. See Here

www.tablesinwonderland.com

We find it does save us money over 2 trips in 12 months. The AP discount is less, does not include alcohol, is not as many restaurants, and is often only weekday lunch.

Good Luck

Generally food discounts are table service that isn't brand new (nobody has discounts at first when they open), counter service at a resort if the resort does not have a table service location. If you can't walk into it, it will not have a discount so no kiosks or food carts (but some of what they sell might be in a gift shop like drinks in a fridge or maybe a candy counter that you do get a discount in). Merch wise, if you can walk into it, you probably get a discount.

Use the AP list for where your pass will work, you just get a larger discount than most. Tables in wonderland is completely different so don't use that list or list of blockout dates for where your pass will work.

Side note: it's rare for someone to ask if you have a discount so if money is about to come out of your hand keep saying "do you take any discounts first". even if you know they don't, ask because sometimes you get a surprise.

TIW is actually accepted at most third party restaurants on WDW property. Landry's Restaurants (which operates Yak and Yeti and the Rainforest Cafes) has opted out of accepting it at their restaurants.

The most notable table service restaurants that don't accept it at all are Teppan Edo, La Hacienda de San Angel, Boathouse, Frontera Cocina, STK, the Landry's owned places and Victoria & Albert's. (Art Smith's Homecoming DOES accept it even though they aren't listed on the website yet.)

TIW is blacked out on 8 days a year, most of them major holidays. There may be additional blackouts on specific restaurants at peak times of year.

YES another for ... look here www.tablesinwonderland.com for information on it as some of the info offered here has been incorrect.

We use it often at non-Disney restaurants. It also works at lounges for drinks and appetizers where we can make a meal.

TiW is much less restrictive than the AP discounts but of course you pay for it. Have had it for years.

Either way you go ALWAYS ask about discounts every time you pay anywhere.

We have actually had a few honor TiW that were not on the list.

http://allears.net/pl/disc_dining.pdf

Paradiso 37 is 15%.
House of Blues Crossroads is 20% at LUNCH.
Splitsville is 20%.

Those are the only non-10% dining discounts for AP I found on that pdf.

Do I even need to purchase tables in wonderland if I get the premier pass?

Check out the allears link and see what restaurants are in your plans and how many trips you have planned. See what makes sense! Maybe it doesn't make sense on the first trip but it would on the 2nd and 3rd.

we ate last week at Olivias and I didn't think they took TIW. She asked if we had any discounts, so I said our AP and TIW and she took that and we got the 20%. This was our first day with AP and TIW. Later in the day we were checking out somewhere with merch and they asked about discounts, then said we should be sure to get AP slider for our Magic bands- as seeing it would get cast members to see we were AP and be sure we got discounts.

Always check the TIW sites and make sure your meal is covered! The list is ever-changing.

We didn't know that the Afternoon Tea at the Grand Floridian had been taken off the list earlier this year - and we valet parked! Luckily we went upstairs to the bar and they took it, so we purchased a coffee (that we opted to not even receive) and paid $3 instead of the regular $25 fee. Yikes!

AP'S give you discounts in some restaurants but they are only Mon thru Friday.

Not true. For the table service eateries that offer an AP discount, the only ones that are limited to Monday through Friday (and lunch) are the ones in Epcot. And not even all of those in Epcot. The Teppan Edo and Tokyo Dining lunch discount is seven days, and the Biergarten AP discount is lunch and dinner, all days. Beyond Epcot, there are no Monday through Friday or lunch restrictions. I'm pulling this information directly out of my 2016 AP discount booklet.

This. Premier just gives you access to the highest tier of AP discounts at DLR or WDW. For anyone used to the nearly universal and consistent counter- and table-service AP dining discounts at DLR, the much more limited dining discounts available at WDW, along with the added complication of TiW, is culture shock. (We went through it when we had Premiers in 2013.)

The Premier pass page says "up to" 20%, not a universal 20% discount. Premier gives you access to Platinum-level AP discounts, which vary by level of discount and in Epcot, by meal and day of the week. The WDW AP dining discount is far more limited than what you have access to at DLR with an AP, particularly that there are no counter service AP dining discounts at Disney World, and no AP dining discounts in Magic Kingdom at all.

That's why many people purchase the separate Tables in Wonderland card (an additional $150 for APs.) It in general offers a blanket 20% discount at most table service restaurants (far more than the AP dining discount offers), including alcohol.

If you are doing a short trip, are not going to eat at many table service restaurants, are not going to eat at signature table service restaurants that are especially costly, or a combination of the three, you probably don't need the added cost of a Tables in Wonderland card. If you're going to have one or more ADRs every day, if you're visiting for a week or longer, and especially if you expect multiple trips within the next year, then Tables in Wonderland makes more sense. But it really depends on the restaurants that you and your family want to visit.

My partner and I are platinum APs and we are going through this whole decisional struggle now, considering whether we want TiW too. There isn't a one-size-fits-all answer, unfortunately.

they won't accept the magic band slider as proof of AP ownership to get discounts. What it might do is tip a cashier or restaurant CM off that they should mention the discount, but the AP holder will still have to show their AP card and ID to redeem the discount. For the most part, you have to remember to mention the discount yourself because the CMs won't mention it to you of their own volition, AP slider or no AP slider.

They ought to offer AP holders a chance to get dining reservations on shorter notice. We live in Fl now and plan to go about once every 4-6 weeks but more spontaneously, so that makes it difficult or impossible to get dining reservations. To use the AP or TIW discounts also.

yeah, ref the slider- its tips them to ask or reminds you to say. Being new AP holders, it was hard to remember the discount

I don't see that it's always going to be impossible to get ANY dining reservations at the last minute. It's usually not that hard to get same day reservations as long as you aren't looking for character meals or the ultra-popular places (or you have a large party). The fact that TIW works at resort lounges and some in-park lounges, some of which serve full restaurant menus, can help too.

I don't see them holding a pool of reservations back to offer to AP holders at the last minute.
