I did a search for this, but I can't find any recent threads about it, now that the pass has been out for a while, I am sure someone has tried it by now and I would like to know the results..

I get that if I were to buy a discounted ticket to WDW online, then enter one of the parks at least once, then upgrade to a premium annual pass, I would get the credit as though I paid full price for my ticket.

Now, let's say that I use my DVC discount to buy a premium annual pass, I then enter the parks at least once on it. Can I then upgrade to the premier pass and get the full gate value of the premium pass?

I know it would be an extra step, but it could be substantial savings if this would work.

Also, what is the DVC discount for the premium pass?

By the way, we always buy a Premium Disneyland Annual pass, as we live about 15 minutes away and we will be making 3-4 about week long trips to Disney World on our DVC points before the pass would expire, so it make sense, even if we would have to pay full price for the pass, I just like to save as much as I can.

If you upgrade from a DVC AP, you will only get credit for the retail value of the AP which is what you paid for it.

DVC APs are not discounted APs, they are unique tickets with their own prices.

The only way to get a discount is to buy a discounted PH for WDW, use it in the parks, then upgrade.

Be aware, however, that this means that your Premier AP year will begin with your first entry to WDW. It may take some planning to coordinate this with your DL AP so you don't have any (or at elast as little as possible) overlap when both your Premier and your DL AP are both valid. We are currently thinking we will pay out of pocket for our DL trip this August (DL APs expire in June) so that our Premier AP can begin when we go to WDW in the fall. -- Suzanne

Our pass expire at the end of May and we are simply not going to renew until we go to WDW in August.

We figure it would be cool to go in June to see the opening of Cars Land, but think the crowds will be unbearable for at least a month or two. Hopefully they will have calmed down a bit by the time we get back from our trip. At any rate, this will cause there to be no overlap on our passes and since the alternative would be to just buy the premier pass at the beginning of our trip, it works out to the same expiration date either way.

NO! They go look up the amount you PAID for the DVC AP and that's the credit you get. (I did this last year)

.

If you mean the Premier pass there is no discount.

Sorry, I don't mean to derail this or piggyback, but I have a question similar to the PP. You said you were going again in august, & thats when you will renew

I'm going in Aug. And staying on my DVC points in BWV. 11 nights so that in itself is a savings over the 10 myw +PH . But If Im going from Aug 21 - Sep 1this year and not planning on going again till next Aug, when will my passes expire next year,? Aug 21 or Sept 1. 2nd. Do I have to move my trip up a week or so to take advantage of 2 trips w/ 1 pass?

Your pass will expire one year from the date of first use.

In our case, we live about 15 minutes from Disneyland, so we always get the Premium Annual Pass anyway. We are DVC member are are planning a trip to WDW in August, December and at least one more before August of next year, after our points reset.

So, it is a no brainer for us to purchase a Premier pass, this method will make it a little more affordable.

Thnx 4 the info...I'm still sure I'm going to buy the AP's. Also may add on the TiW too.

The Premier Passport is different from the Premium Annual Pass. PP has no discounts and is valid at DL and WDW. You will be charged the difference between what you paid for your other ticket media and the price of the Premier Passport.

It is worth it only if you plan on going to both DL and WDW frequently enough to beat any other discounted ticket combination.
