Not sure which forum is best to post this on. DW is way pregnant, but we think her due date is wrong. She is already bigger and heavier than she was with our last child and still has a month till her due date. Does anyone in Houston remember when the What will you celebrate tour was here? We know for sure that that was when she last :rolleyes1 well you know, but we cannot find anywhere on the web that gives the date. We think we may have given the doctor the wrong date and that made her due date wrong. If anyone out there remembers please let us know. Thanks,

Scott

Not from TX but I saw it on a web site that said 10/16.....does that sound right????

BTW I notice that you are the father of 7. If your wife gave birth to all seven, has her Dr. checked out the possibility of twins??? The more babies a woman has, the greater chance of multiple births. Per the Oct 16 date, she still has over a month. I really feel for her in the summer heat.

Thanks CleoZ and Dales wife. No no twins CleoZ this will actually be DW's
5th birth, we each have three from our first marriages and this is our second together. I appreciate the replies, I was hoping for DW's sake that we had the date wrong, but apparently not.

If your DW appears to have put a lot of weight on fast please have her BP checked asap. I had toxemia and I kept getting yelled at by my Dr that I was overeating when in fact I wasn't eating that much at all. I was gaining 7lbs per week for 3 weeks straight and my BP skyrocketed. It was too late and I delivered at 29 weeks. I knew something was wrong but the Dr didn't catch it.
Good luck and good health to your family!!

Congrats on the new one to come!

This will not help with the dates, but, I had 2 Houston births and 1 Colorado birth. With the 2 Houstonians, I was extremely huge. With one of those births I even had to be on bed rest because of toxemia/high blood pressure. It was brought on by the heat and humidity. I had lots of water weight.
With birth #3 in Colorado, I never got swollen and was not "overly" huge.;)
Heat and humidity make for a much larger pregnancy, in my case.

Good luck!:goodvibes

You always carry bigger and harder with each consecutive pregnancy. Those stomach muscles just give out a little sooner. Unfortunately for her.. it's just the way it is!
The good thing is, she may deliver early just because her body has done this before.
Due dates today are not set by the date you give your doctor. They just take that date to get a frame of reference to go by in the first few weeks. They usually determine your due date after an ultrasound. I am 30 weeks pregnant now with my 3rd. They have amended my due date after each of my ultrasounds by a day or two. And the due date they gave me based upon my last cycle, was off by 1.5 weeks! The ultrasound due date is the more accurate to go by.

This happened to me with my second child. My water broke on the evening of the day I was 35 weeks, 5 days along with him. He was born at exactly 36 weeks gestation...

I started "showing" much earlier with him...around 12 weeks! I felt HUGE by 35 weeks, and felt I just could not get any bigger (not weight wise, just "stomach" wise...like my stomach just could NOT get any larger).

I told my husband the afternoon before my water broke, and I quote "I don't think I can get any bigger. I think we're going to have a baby tonight, although I hope not cause my bag for the hospital is not packed yet." Guess what I was doing at 4am...;)

Anyway, it does happen. Babies sometimes are just too large for "mommy". I have a short torso, and my baby was large for my frame. He was born a month early at 6lbs, 9oz and 21" long. That's pretty big for a 36 week baby...he was in the NICU for 2 days in an O2 hood, and even the docs in there were commenting that he was a "big boy" for his age, and questioning if I got "my dates wrong." (in a joking way, of course, since the ultrasounds and measurements that OB's do are much more accurate anyway).

If your wife is not SWOLLEN all over, I wouldn't worry about it (high blood pressure/toxemia issues), but be prepared for the possibility of an early labor/delivery!

Thanks so much to everyone. DW is OK BP wise, and in reality is actually small by most pregnant women standards. She just hurts so much and I worry about her. I am sure everything will be fine, I just wanted to make sure that we had the due date right. I really appreciate everyones concern, I just wish she would quit fighting the name I picked out. Who does not like Walter Elias? :rotfl2: Oh well Steven Cooper is OK to I guess.

Hurts how? If it is her back, that's fairly normal, but if it is her hips and legs, she could have a condition called Pubic Symphysis Disorder. Essentially it happens when your body releases too much of the hormone Relaxin too soon, and your joints get overly loose. One of the hallmarks of it is that it becomes nearly impossible to roll over in bed without excruciating pain.

I had PSD with all my pregnancies, and I needed to walk with a cane for safety for the final two months, because there was a good possibility that my leg might unexpectedly collapse when walking. If this sounds like a condition that she might have, her doctor should look at it carefully, and possibly take certain precautions for the delivery to avoid ligament damage (presuming that she is not having a c-section, that is.)

PSD normally goes away entirely within days of delivery.

I was WAY bigger the 2nd time around. I had people asking me at 10m if I was due any day or if I was preggo w/ twins. I was just carrying a lot of water. Thay may be what is going on. What does her OBGYN/Midwife think? Congrats on the new LO.

If the dates were off, the doctors would have spotted it at the ultrasound.

Personally, I put on 40 more lbs with my second than I did with the first, so size isnt everything. But for goodness sake dpn't let her know you are concerned about her size!

NotUrsala she has a burning sensation in her ribs where his backside is pushing against them. She had this problem last pregnancy, but only in the last week or so. She did not have this problem with her first three pregnancies, but I am about 10 or 12 inches taller than her ex, so I guess that might be part of the problem. She is very tiny normally, 5'1" and about 105 lbs, so big babies do not agree with her.

LWatson the OB says everything is fine, basically just suck it up. I know that sounds insensitive but there is really nothing else we can do.

Stacy, there is not a day that goes by that I do not tell her at least 5 times that she looks beautiful. Its easy because its true. Especially when her her "topside" swelling and her belly make a perfect Mickey! Seriously though I cannot believe how tiny she is, and how great she looks. I only worry because of how uncomfortable she is. It was not like the last pregnancy, I guess he is just a big boy.

Thanks to all of you for your concern,

Scott
