You are likely not to get an accurate answer by calling. People have been told all sorts of incorrect information on the phone because you are getting a call center, not actually at WDW.On a less complicated note, I think I will write to WDW about that Nemo show queue at AK. It truly is the WORST line for sun that I can think of in any park. Add to it the feeling that AK is the hottest park in the summer anyway.
While DD has the autoimmune disease that flares in the sun (it is a skin/muscle disease), DS is in a Convaid chair with very fair skin. I feel awful having him wait in that line, too. It is just awful. And he loves that show (he has Downs and Autism, loves the music).
Your best information will come from the CMs at the actual attraction, who are the ones making exceptions.
We have been told there is no adaptation/accommodation when we have asked at that attraction in the past. There used to be a Tusker House Nemo lunch package, but tht ended when Tusker House became a character meal.
That area was out of the sun and they may let you wait there with an appropriate GAC. I would not count on it though.
Whn we go to Nemo, we choose one of the last shows because the sun is not right overhead. We position the rest of our party so we can use our bodies to shade DD. that works pretty well.
The OP was asking about someone currently at the parks. For that situation, parasols and going before 10 am and after 2 will keep you out of the sun when it is most direct are the best bet.In the extremely rare instances where a guest with standing-in-the-sun issues may encounter a line substantially in the sun, being self-protective would be the first, common sense response. As several others have advised, a parasol/umbrella makes complete sense.
For someone planning a trip, there are many types of sun protective clothing items available that would be helpful nd can be purchased ahead of time.
I agree. This thread has gone on for many pages of one poster's theory about sun exposure, but the fact remains that anyone will be in the sun a lot more total time while going between attractions than in the very few lines that have any sun exposure. But you are forgetting that's there are very few (nemo is the only one that comes to mind) that does not move and is in the direct sun. So for the op it really is a nonissue because she is exposed to more sun between rides and waiting for parades than waiting in line for shows or rides.
Although this thread has gone on so long she has probably given birth and the kid is ready for school.
