We have our trip planned for June and my daughter (age 33) found out she is pregnant!!!! Her son is 14, so it has been a while for her. She was on bed rest the last two months when she was pregnant with him.
My question is...do you think she will be able to walk most of the day? Would a scooter be necessary? We will get up early, but take a break around noon. Of course we will check with her doctor, but I wanted to check here too.
Right now we are planning to stay at Pop Century, but I am wondering about staying at a different resort because the bus stop for Pop is the fartherst away.
Thanks for any advice. Pam F

How far along will she be by then? I was in Disney during both of my pregnancies and was fine as long as I took it slow. There are lots of quiet spots where she can sit and relax while everyone else goes on the thrill rides (I secretly enjoyed the chance to take a break!)

Another thing to keep in mind...it can also be very hot that time of year, which may make getting around more difficult.

I was pregnant with my first child at WDW in October 2000. I was four months along at that point, and ahem, not really in the best shape at that time (I have since lost about 75 pounds!).

However, even four months pregnant and 75 pounds overweight, I was able to get along just fine. I did sit down every once in a while to give my feet a rest and I drank a lot of water. I look pretty happy in all the pictures, so I must have been. I remember it being pretty hot then too (same pictures show me in maternity t-shirts and shorts).

I did avoid all the rides that said pregnant woman shouldn't ride them, with the exception of Kilamanjaro Safari (it really wasn't THAT bumpy). But I did not try rides like Star Tours or roller coasters.

I went at 20 weeks in June and it was HOT! I took lots of breaks and drank plenty of water. Then we returned on September. I was 34 weeks and it was hotter. I still made it though. The best thing I did was buy a support belt. It was a lifesaver. And I went back to the room every afternoon to rest in the A/C. I agree with PP that the Safari ride isn't that bad. I rode it both times. I think as long as she takes it easy, drinks lots of water, and listens to her body when its time to rest then she'll be okay. Have a great trip!

We went to Walt Disney World for a week in Oct. 2006 with our granddaughter and DIL who was supposedly 7 months pregnant. She did great except for Braxton Hicks contractions the last two days of our trip. Colton was born two weeks after we got home. We had a great time, but pay attention to your condition.

If she just found out she will probably only be 4-5 months by the time of your trip? She will probably be fine, and it might even be the most ideal time to go.. a lot of folks like to take a trip around that time, they call it a "babymoon".

I'm 28 weeks now, and I've been to DL once and WDW 3 or 4 times since I got pregnant.. and hoping to squeeze in one more trip. The last trip, in February was the best one so far. I didn't have nausea and I wasn't too tired! Expect her to take it easy.. we joked that it was a lovely tour of WDW bathrooms and benches. There is still plenty to see and do when you are pregnant. Lots of shows and rides you can go on. She will probably welcome the breaks if others want to go on roller coasters.. just try to alternate big rides with ones you can all do. Oh and pack snacks, lots of snacks and lots of water. The last thing you need is to be standing in line and get that "OH MY GOD I HAVE TO EAT RIGHT NOW!!" feeling. Disney also has 'baby care centers' - but they won't mind if a mom to be pops in for a rest. They are air conditioned and have seating/rest areas. Also, the pool is great for taking the weight off the belly.. just be sure she gets out of the pool very slowly. I thought the pool wasn't helping at all, and didn't realize the difference until I went to get out!

If she's having a normal pregnancy, she should be ok (check with your doctor of course).. you could always try to book refundable-ish airfare -- like Southwest, where if you cancel you can get a full credit for the fare toward another flight. Check w/ Disney, but I think your hotel is refundable up to 5 days in advance, and if you cancel you only lose 1 night stay. If you purchase park tickets in advance, you can use them at another time. As for POP vs somewhere else.. Disney is a lot of walking no matter where you stay. I don't think it will make much of a difference in the long run.. even the walk to and from the monorail loading area (if you were staying at CR/Poly/Grand) is equivalent to the walk to the bus stop.

I have been pregnant at Disney World once, and tonight I just found out I'm (very unexpectedly for me as well!!!!???!!!!) pregnant again. So, I'll be doing Disney world in May at 12 (ish?) weeks pregnant for the second time.

Honestly, that early along my biggest issue has always been morning sickness. I get horrible, dreadful, terrible morning sickness that lasts through 20-22 weeks easily. In terms of stamina and walking etc. etc., I've been perfectly fine.

Good luck and congratulations!

Congratulations to you and the OP's family!

Thanks for the help. She will be about 6 months along in June.
I am probably more nervous then she is. I am the planner, she just goes along. I will tell her about the support belt, that should help!!! There will be 7 of us all together, so someone should be able to stay with her most of the time. Or we can set her in the shade with a drink!!!
Thanks again.
