Hello all! Getting excited about our trip in October. I'll be five months (20 weeks) along when we go, and now that the morning sickness is almost past, I'm starting to make plans in earnest. I seem to recall someone mentioned there were sites that had good information on what to expect if you're pregnant while at Disney, including rides that MIGHT be acceptable (though I'm not a big ride person, so I don't think I'll be too disappointed if I can't go on any :rolleyes1 ).

Any resources that could be offered would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

I found this link good. http://www.allearsnet.com/pl/pregnant.htm. I was 28 weeks pregant when we went on our second trip to Disney. I found taking afternoon breaks very helpful. I also found that I ended up carry our backpack the most because it help my back. lol

I stayed away from all rides that posted signs saying not suitable for pregant woman except for the Safari in the Animal Kingdom. The CM asked me if I was pregant and said it was my choice if I went on the ride but he made us sit up front as it is not so bumpy. I did not see a sign on the Norway ride in EPCOT and even though I rode it before and thought it would be fine I found horrible! It was really hard on my back and belly being pergant.

Have a great trip!! Congrats!

The attractions that WDW lists as having warnings for pregnant women are on the official WDW webpages for people with disabilities.
They are also marked on the park maps with a little caution (red triangle) icon.
The allearsnet.com page is very good, but they used to have a list of rides to avoid that was a mixture of those Disney has warnings about and ones that readers of that site have indicated they personally did not do while pregnant. So there were some things listed on that site that I personally would not go on even not pregnant (like the teacups) that Disney has no warning about.

There are a couple of other places that have advice (not just related to rides). If you do a search on the boards, you'll find the links (and advice given to previous posters). The Unofficial Guide as a mention on going pregnant too. I know I had a list of things, having went pregnant last May, but unfortunately I just can't find it.

We went when I was 5 months pregnant with our little guy (now almost 1! :p ). I just made sure to drink extra water, sit down a lot more often than I normally would, and enjoy my last trip to WDW without a stroller for a long time :rotfl:
Like a previous poster I stayed off of every ride that said not for expectant mothers except the safari where I sat up front. I also skipped the ride in Norway but it was because I wanted a rice cream so I sent dh and the kids while I had snack :rotfl2:
The main thing is take it easy and listen to your body. You will most likely not be able to push as hard as you would like and see as many things as you would like. I always sat and people watched when my dh took the older two on the rides I couldn't go on. It was great for my pregnant feet :flower:

Thank you everyone! I appreciate the help and will check those links out right now.

One thought I had. . .besides being pregnant (I'll be 20 weeks at the time of our trip), I also have flat feet. This means it's hard for me to be on my feet when I'm NOT carrying around the added weight of a little human being in my belly, much less when I DO have that added weight. So my question is. . .are there a lot of places to sit? I'm going the first week of October. . .do you think I'll be able to find a bench fairly easily when I need one? At 20 weeks, I doubt I'll look OBVIOUSLY pregnant, so my chances of someone giving me their seat because they feel sorry for me are probably pretty slim. LOL

This is my first trip, obviously, so I'm just wondering if it's worth the trouble to pack myself a small collapsible chair or something.

Thanks!

I truly cannot imagine you not being able to find a place to sit and rest when you need to. I would not worry with a collapsable chair. And really enjoy this trip - I went at 32 weeks and had a wonderful trip....I would do it again in a heartbeat. And there is so much more that you can do than you can't do.

You should have no trouble finding somewhere to sit. I wouldn't bring a chair it would probably be more of a bother than a help. There will still be plenty of rides and shows you'll want to do and then you'll have to find somewhere to put it.
I was really concerned when I was planning our trip and relized how pregant I would be but I LOVED our trip and had a better time then when we went before!lol Being pregant made me relax and it seemed to help everyone take there time and enough things we are normally to busy to notice!

;) We went to Disney a year and a half ago when I was 5 months pregnant with my fourth child. I asked my Dr. and he said that I was fine riding anything for another month. ( we went to King's Island when I was 4 months and I rode EVERYTHING). But alas, I had my older 3 with us hat Disney so we did mostly shows and kiddie rides as they were too small to ride anything bigger. They were 1, 2 and 4. The only BAD thing about the trip was that we went in July and it was sooo hot. It was so hot that I didn;t feel like swimming, LOL. We really just took the week easy, wich is how I think that Disney shouuld be done at anytime IMHO. Otherwise you miss out on the little things, the magic of Disney, if you are going commando Disney :teeth: . I personally think that pregnancy isn't an affliction it simply a state that your body is in. Just take it slow and enjoy yourselves. :earboy2:
P.S. Don't take a chair you'll be kicking yourself 2 hours into the 1st day. ;)

I have another question along these lines. We'll be going to WDW in a couple weeks and I'm not out of the nausea stage yet. I don't eat much at a time but try to eat little bits throughout the day. Normally, we enjoy the restaurants on our trips but I'm afraid I just won't be able to eat as much as they serve and would hate for things to go to waste (have experienced this at home already). Has anyone else dealt with this problem? I wondered if restuarants might let me order of the child's menu (if there was anything I'd actually want to eat on the child's menu) or maybe ask for lunch portions even though it may be dinner time.

Any thoughts? Thanks!

Well I can tell you about my experience. With both my pregnancies I was horribly sick (had severe hyperemesis, was basically bedridden for 3-4 months straight because of sickness). With the first pregnancy I was going to the hospital about every 2 weeks to get IV fluids because I couldn't eat or drink anything without having my head in the toilet. But in the very worst of this sickeness I was invited to go to Disney by my snowbird grandparents who live in Tampa during the winter. I cannot refuse an offer to go to Disney so I had to say yes. My husband was deployed at the time so I would be driving 11 hours to Florida on my own. I woke up the morning of the trip and threw up a lot (as I did every day all day long). I got in the car and started driving, and suddenly I felt fine! I felt no sickness whatsoever for the first time in about 2 months. I made it through the whole Disney trip without throwing up or anything. I would wake up in the morning feeling a little queasy but I'd eat a light breakfast and feel fine the rest of the day. It was such a wonderful break from the severe sickness I had been going through. Then on the last day of the trip, I woke up and went to the Food Court at All Star Music, and suddenly the sickness came back and I ran to the bathroom and was throwing up as usual. I started the drive home right after that and when I got home I was back to being super sick again. It was just a very strange thing - like the Disney "magic" temporarily cured me until it was time to leave and then I was sick again!

That's good to know that Disney magic works in ALL kinds of mysterious ways! I have already discovered that I do better driving than being a passenger in a vehicle. I could be having a good morning but if I carpooled with DH to work and didn't drive, I'd feel awful by the time I got to work (no commentary on DH's driving of course ;) ).

Poohj80 I just love your pic of the entrance to MK. I can't wait til Nov. so I can see it in person once again!!! :flower1: :thewave:

Thanks, but it's not of the MK...it was taken at the entrance to DL in CA.

Thanks once again for the advice, everyone! I was really worried about the sitting part, but it sounds like I shouldn't have any problems. I suppose if I DO have trouble finding an unoccupied bench, I can always moan and complain about my pregnancy and hope some nice person will offer me their seat. ;)

You are all wonderful! Thanks SO much for helping this novice!

The one time I could imagine you having a problem finding a seat is along parade routes, and possibly during fireworks. So either stake out your space very early, or come up with an alternate plan if standing isn't going to work for that period of time. But in October, I can't imagine that you'll have to look far for a place to sit at any other time - maybe in the heat of July, but not in October!
