Pregnant at AK advice please

Well....went to Dr yesterday and I got a shock. He actually said he does not recommend taking the trip at all. Did not expect that. We already paid for the flight. I've had 3 pregnancies and I was always very active. Really sad right now. Hopefully things might change as we get closer....but it's not looking good. sigh.

I'm sorry about this. You must be disappointed. With that said, as an OB-GYN Nurse Practitioner, I sure wouldn't want any of my high-risk pregnancy patients traveling to WDW either.

I'm sorry too that you're disappointed; as a retired OB doc I was afraid that might be your doc's recommendation. Sending hopes & prayers that your pregnancy goes well and that you'll be taking a healthy, happy child to WDW in the future!

Sorry to hear that OP. Hopefully you have flight insurance and they will give you a credit and you could travel after you have the baby. Honestly,
you are better being safe then sorry. Just plan a trip for some time after the baby arrives to keep your spirits up.

:(

Give the airline a call and see what they can do. Although they aren't obligated to, sometimes they have policies that can help you out in these situations. The worst they can say is, "No."

I am a NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) nurse and the last thing you want to do is end up delivering a preterm baby....especially out of state! You won't be able to have the baby transported home, and you won't want to leave your baby, so you will be stuck in Orlando for what could be months. A few rides is not worth it! I don't know how far along you are, or how high risk you are, but PLEASE talk to your doctor! Is the flight/car ride even OK for you? Sometimes those are not even recommended if you are very high risk.

I was pregnant when we went to AK many years ago. I just followed the signs. Since you are high risk I would talk to your MD and see what he recommends. Make sure you drink tons of water and rest frequently. It is very hot in that park but there is plenty of shade. I would rent a scooter for the day to make it easier on you!

I'm sorry you can't go on your trip. Hopefully you'll be able to reschedule.

We were just at WDW in mid/late May. DH is an OBGYN and even though I'm not high risk, he wouldn't 'let' me ride any of the rides at AK. Even the safari. (I think he's seen enough abruptions that the bumps and jerkiness aren't worth it.) Instead, I toured the walking trails while my family went on rides. (I also found some benches to relax on.)

I was worried that I'd be disappointed not being able to go on rides. But it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting.

That's a bummer...so sorry for you. Was it flying that was a concern? I went to Disneyland pregnant but I was still very early and the flight is short so I was cleared to go. I rode all the little people rides and saw shows and parades. Perhaps you can reschedule the trip for post delivery and take that beautiful new baby with you.

I'm so sorry you have to cancel, but get in touch with the airline ASAP and see what they can do for you. They may be able to issue a refund or a roll over for a flight after your new one has arrived safely.
