thanks !
from a very young grammie !

From what I know, you cannot do any of the dolphin interactions if you are pregnant. She will have to cancel her part of the excursion. Sorry about that, but congrats on the baby!

This is from the Dolphin Encounters webpage. It does mention under the "Dolphin Swim" and "Sea Lion Enounter" rules and restrictions that pregnant women are not allowed to participate, but nothing is mentioned about the Dolphin Encounter. You may want to check out www.dolphinencounters.com yourself and/or contact them:

Please review the restrictions for The Close Encounter Program:

* Guests age 3 or younger participate for free if accompanied in the program by a responsible, paying adult with a ticket for the encounter. Parent or guardian must be at least 18 years of age.
* Guests ages 4 to 12 may participate at full price & must be accompanied by a responsible, paying adult with a ticket for the encounter.
* Guests wishing to upgrade from the Encounter to available Swim spaces may apply the value of the encounter ticket toward the purchase of the upgrade.

I too think that you can not get in the water with the dolphins if you are pregnant.

Congratulations on the great news.

CONGRATULATIONS on your new addition. She will not be able to do any of the Dolphin Contacts. Dolphins know when women are pregnant and when they are also on their cycles. So she will not be allowed in the water as the dolphins actually try to protect you, but it has been known when doing so, they have actually hurt them. She can go and watch you guys from the shorelines, but will not be able to participate. Quick cruise, before she reaches her 24th week. Happy cruising......

OP, please look at the following page off of their site. Under the first part entitled "age requirements" is the answer to your question. It says that pregnant women can participate in the encounter, just not the swim. I don't know if it make a difference whether you book through DCL or the place directly, though. Hope this helps!

Not that I have been on this excursion, so I am not sure of what all makes up the "encounter" but isn't it in the water with them? I am just wondering, not trying to correct. I only shared my pregnancy knowledge, not this exact encounter.....:confused3

The swim is out in more open waters with the dolphins and you swim with them. On the encounter the guest stand on a platform in the water and the dolphins swim by and interact with you from there. It is a much more controled setting and I see no reason why it would not be safe for a women with child. However, I would call whoever you booked with (DCL Or independently) to confirm. I am sure if plans need to be changed the sooner you do it the better all the way around.

Congrats on the new additions!!!

I was 7 weeks pregnant when I did the Dolphin Encounter in Cozumel. The encounter is the excusion where you stand on a platform in about 4ft of water and interact (dance/kiss/pet) the dolphins. I never saw anything saying I could not participate in the encounter due to my pregnancy.
