Hi everyone! Hubby and I just found out we are pregnant! Our first little is currently 4. I will be 8.5 weeks when we arrive in July. I need all the tips/tricks from people who have gone pregnant, especially this early in the pregnancy. I extremely nervous about flying, and being in the excessive heat down in Florida. We are debating telling our 4 so early as he's going to be so confused why I am not riding everything with him (he loves rollercoasters), so any ideas you have to handle that situation would also be helpful. We've had this trip booked for a long while now, and our son is so excited, so cancelling the trip isn't really an option unless absolutely necessary. TIA!

Congratulations! If you are prone to morning sickness then map out where all of the bathrooms are....seriously, I had such extreme morning sickness, I spent more time in the bathroom than doing anything else.

Staying hydrated and resting as needed is smart advice for anyone in general, but being pregnant, maybe even more so.

Congratulations! At 8.5 weeks, you won't be showing and probably will not have gained much weight. (Some people don't even know they are pregers by then). So as mentioned, morning sickness might be your only issue. And of course the heat. Flying shouldn't be an issue - I flew through 7.5 months when my doctor grounded me. Telling your first is up to you. You can still do some rides, just let Dad do the roller coasters. Stay hydrated, take rest breaks, eat healthy.

Sorry you won’t be able to do the rollercoasters, but anything without a height requirement is fair game (according to my OB). Make sure to stay hydrated!!! And keep snacks on you (but you might already since you have a 4YO). I went around 11 weeks when I was pregnant with my first, didn’t have nausea or morning sickness but otherwise had zero appetite. Anytime I go to WDW in the summer I remind myself it’s okay to take breaks, including heading back to your resort. With the lo, rope drop to lunch might be easiest and then going back in the late afternoon/evening (or let dad take care of the latter half of the park day). One of my friends did a capture your moment photo shoot at MK with her two children to announce their third, so if you can get a reservation that could be fun. Early morning recommended before it gets too hot and sweaty! Most of all, have fun!!

DRINK SO MUCH WATER! First trimester you may not be showing but one of the reasons women get fatigued and light headed during the first 12 weeks is because your body is going into overdrive making a lot more blood volume than usual. Make sure to keep up your water intake so that you don't tax your system too much. Women's blood volume goes up by 30-50% during pregnancy!

Years and years ago, I went to Disney when I was about five months pregnant. When I needed to rest, I went to the first aid stations in the parks. The people there let me rest as long as I needed. Usually, a half hour was enough to get me feeling good again.

I think the most important thing will be to stay hydrated and well fed, a lot of morning sickness is made worse by not wanting to eat. So always have some snacks available, which with a 4 year old you probably will need anyway.

And don't overdo it, I think some parents tend to bend tooo far into the kids first disney trip experience they tend to forget about their own needs and that's why everyone is cranky by 3 PM.

Can't believe how time flies, but I went when I was ten weeks, and my kiddo was almost 5. Agree on drinking all the water.

My OB cleared me to ride anything not a coaster that was safe for a toddler, but do what makes you comfortable.

Ones thing I didn't think to do then was to order groceries to the hotel. It would have really helped me to have my home favorites for snacks early in the am (would do an ice cold apple juice first thing in the morning).

Be mindful of what you schlep, and be ok with taking your time. We ran to catch a bus (I'm from NY, it's ingrained in me) and regretted it deeply.

I went at 15 weeks (9 years ago, Memorial Day weekend). I think the biggest thing is what others have said above. Stay hydrated and TAKE BREAKS!!! Don’t try to go all day, especially in the summer. Head back to the resort mid-day for a stretch of time in the a/c.

Congratulations!

The advice above is great - take it slow and hydrate.

My wife and I went on many Dis trips with young kids, and my best advice would be to utilize the baby centers in the parks (https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/guest-services/baby-care-centers/). Each park has one, and they're themed nicely and have space for young kids to watch Disney shows/movies while mom/dad have a break. The cast members are super friendly there, and the centers have supplies/medicine/etc that you might need. These spaces are often overlooked by families with older kids, but for younger families, they're wonderful. They have plenty of soft seats, private restrooms, and cool air conditioning.

Enjoy your trip!

Congrats! Hydrate, take breaks, and give yourself a break. I went when I was about that far along with my first, and my biggest issues were not being able to finish the delicious meals I got at Epcot, and I ended up with the "Disney rash" on my calves, probably the day we walked from Hollywood Studios to Epcot (this was pre-Skyliner). So I think as long as you adapt your expectations, take breaks, and hydrate, you should be fine.

I second the advice about the baby care centers. Also, at that age, my kids loved themed playgrounds, and there is a nice air-conditioned one by the Dumbo ride where you can sit while your oldest plays. At Epcot there is one by Mission Space as well. My daughter also really enjoyed the Disney Junior dance party at Hollywood Studios, though the only "seats" were sitting on the floor.

I don't remember how we told my oldest he was getting a little sister, but I remember he was able to keep it a secret for several weeks. We went to Disney when I was about 21 or 22 weeks along with her, but my oldest was just 2.5, so too small for the coasters anyways. I was able to go on the rides he could go on: Small World, Pirates, Dumbo, Haunted Mansion, WDW Railroad, etc.

Have fun!
