Pregnacy and rides

Can you still walk through the queue's if you aren't riding? There are 3 in our party but my wife won't be riding the "thrill rides" just wondered if she could still tag along with us.

Yes, any ride with restrictions will have an exit near the end of the queue, so your wife can walk with you most of the way. Just tell the castmembers along the queue that she will not be riding, and they will let her know where to go. I haven't done this at Disneyland, but I did while I was pregnant at Walt Disney World, and I'm sure it will work similarly.

I didn't ride anything that bounced. So pretty much WInnie the Pooh and the story book rides.
No star tours, no materhorn, no splash mountain
I was 3 months pregnant with our only child. We had my parents visiting in from town too.
it is actually how I told them we were pregnant.
I wasn't going to ride Splash Mountain with my mom (after refusing to ride matterhorn and Thunder Mountain) and she asked what was up if I wasn't feeling well or something, then the second she said that she said "you're pregnant!" like it was one big run-on sentence.
"Honey you haven't ridden anything yet, you didn't ride matterhorn with Chris, you didn't ride thuunder mountain with dad now you aren't riding splash mountain are you not feeling well or something oh my god you're pregnant!"

Literally no breath in between, the words of excitement just came tumbling out and didn't stop.
Unfortunately she passed away three weeks before Tyler was born.
Her only grandchild.
She was so excited to be a grandma too :worried::guilty:

R.I.P. Mommy :littleangel:

What are your thoughts on the early weeks of pregnancy? Yes or no for coasters like CS and Matterhorn?

Congrats MrsPinup!

I wouldn't risk a ride like CS or Matterhorn while pregnant. On my baby moon, it was kind of disappointing missing out on riding some of my favorite rides (and drinking some of my favorite cocktails), but I didn't want to have to worry or risk anything. When I wanted a thrill I rode the swinging gondolas on the Fun Wheel. They get my heart going more than any of the thrill rides anyway!

This is one of the sweetest Disneyland stories I've ever heard. I'm so sorry for your loss.

We didn't go to DLR when I was pregnant but if we had my plan would have been to not ride anything with a height requirement.

What are everyone's feelings on the safari at WDW? That one and Soarin are two I don't understand an issue with. The safari many times is not any bumpier then half the roads where I live (middle of no where). Soarin really seems pretty smooth so I'm wondering if there is another reason I'm missing.

i agree with williebearsmom...i don't get the warning for sorin. i'd just stay away from the rollercoasters/rough rides.
There is no warning on Soarin'. Some pregnant women do have problems on Soarin' but it has more to do with motion sickness.

I wouldn't do them. I would only ride the stuff without a HR (and Soarin') if I had a teeny one inside me. I would never forgive myself if something happened and I had done something I knew I shouldn't have.

BTW - Congratulations! :goodvibes

Thanks :) It is such a bummer to miss out on my favorite rides...all for the better!

It is really a short period of time you will have to avoid this, it is for a good cause, and it does gear you up for what to expect when you have your baby.

That said, be sure to drink plenty of fluids, avoid getting overheated or overtired, and enjoy a slower pace!

I would talk to your doctor, because you can probably do more than you think you can. It all depends on your health, how far along you are, etc.
I never went to Disney when pregnant, but I did go to a park closer to home that has much bigger coasters. I was about 3-4 months along, if I remember right. My MD gave me permission to go on anything that a 6 year old could ride on, so I found an average 6 year old (friend of the family) and measured her. To my surprise, I could go on everything, even the coaster with a double loop. (My doctor had actually asked if I was going to Disneyland when I asked about coasters, and she said I was OK to go on anything I wanted up to six months into my pregnancy.)
Now, I am a runner, so my baby was getting quite a bit of jouncing anyway, but I never had a problem on those rides other than a bit of motion sickness, which I normally don't get. And my DD3 seems to have no ill effects, other than a love of thrill rides herself. So I think it really depends on how healthy you are and how your pregnancy is going. If you have a history of placental detachment, miscarriage, etc. you are probably going to have to be more careful, but for the most part, you are probably OK.
