Hi,

At DL, you can get a preferred seating (at a price!) for Fantasmic. I was wondering, can anyone point me in the direction of a list of 'preferred viewing (for a price) opportunities' at WDW? I'm especially interested in parade viewing.

Thanks much!

I don't think there are any "preferred for a price" seating areas for WDW parades. For Fantasmic, there is a dinner package with seating available, but they aren't necessarily the BEST seats, it saves from having to wait in line prior to the show.

Some of the better places for parades are the train station at MK (like DL), but folks state out those spots early. Otherwise, just look for a shady spot anywhere along the parade routes at AK and MGM. Otherwise, parade reserved areas are mainly for wheelchair guests and those that need a sign language interpretation.

Actually, it's funny you should mention the wheelchair viewing area - that's part of the reason I'm asking. You see, my sisters and I (all grown ups) are going with my parents, and my mother is in a wheelchair, and we know that only one other person can sit with her in the handicap seating area - but we'd have no problem paying extra to have preferred seating so we could sit with her (without having to wait for an hour or two - sometimes I'd rather spend money than time . . .)

We did this in August 2003 (the "Fantasmic Dessert Buffet.").

Frankly, given the cost it's not the greatest deal - the "preferred" seating is off a balcony which is crowded (holds at best 15 or so people, but over 20 are crammed in, seated on tiny, narrow chairs). If you don't end up in the front row, your view of Fantastmic is blocked by heads. Also, the night we were there the CM serving the food (which was B to B+ quality) wasn't particularly friendly!

Funny you should mention that - depending when you go and how full the wheelchair viewing area is, you MAY all be able to stay with your mom.
In January, at pretty much the last minute, six of us (one ECV, one wheelchair and four 'members of our party') were able to make it into the viewing area near City Hall. We had rushed over there and I asked the CM if we could all fit - and she made it work! Granted, there are no guarantees - but on another trip, my entire party was allowed into the area in front of the castle, and there ended up still being room for more people - but the CMs wouldn't allow any Guests in who weren't with someone in a wheelchair.

Yes, you might be able to keep your party together in the wheelchair area. But if it's busy that day in the wheelchair viewing area, you may be asked to limit your party to one person plus the person with a wheelchair. How busy the wheelchair area is doesn't always correlate with how busy the park is in general.

There are VIP parade areas for the parades....I work the Africa section of Mickey's Jammin' Jungle Parade from time to time, and in this area the VIP section is on the bridge to Harambe, and guests must show us a voucher in order to gain access to that particular roped off area. There is also a wheel-chair section located in Harambe Village, at the entryway of the outdoor table area (between Tusker House and the Dawa Bar).

Just call the (407) WDISNEY number for further information, or visit with any Guest Services location on property :)

The preferred viewing areas aren't always the greatest places to see the event.

AKL parade viewing is good, but the Illuminations area is not great. It is the friendship dock near Morocco and has obstructed views. You can get much better views if you plan right that if you rely on Disney.
