I've booked a preferred room at CBR for January 2004.

I know it'll either be in Martinique or Trinidad Noth.

Does anyone know if ALL of Martinique is going to be preferred or just the rooms closest to OPR?

Thanks,

 I do not - anyone know this?

I recall reading another post elsewhere that the preferred rooms were the buildings closest to OPR (not the entire island area)

I was under the impression that it was the entire village of Martinique and Trinidad North.

Thanks everyone - I just wish someone out there could help us!

Have you tried calling the resort? I will be at CBR the end of the month and will ask then.

Very good question.
Because Martinique buildings 21 and 22 are still awfully far away!!
I would not be happy if I paid extra and ended up with either of those and actually would have been better off at Aruba 51 or Jamaica 45!!

The preffered are rooms facing either the pools or the lake.
No, I don't think so.
Those would be "water view".
And looking at the map.....I would not pay extra for those either.

But I would pay extra for Martinique 25, 26 or Trinadad 31,32 or 33.

Interesting.... how difficult would it be to handle reservations if they did not mean all of Martinique and Trinidad North?

And exactly how much extra is a "water view preferred" room? That's starting to get up there.... and it's my opinion that water view is practically useless at a Disney moderate.

I don't think it would be difficult at all.
If they can handle different "views" they would just do the same with the "preferred".

As for the water view vs. preferred.....
they are the same rate. It is listed as "water, preferred or king" So a water view along with a preferred building is the same. Kinda like getting two for the price of one.

I agree that the "water view" is totally useless for moderates!!!

Although I am not a DIS veteran, I would have to diagree with some of the thoughts here. For some people, a water view would be that little added feature that makes the vacation great! I had a water view in Aruba Dec 2000 and the walk was not terrible to OPR for food or coffee. It got the bones and muscles going for the day to come. It comes down to what you want to spend to make things work for you and your family.

I love to walk at CBR but to pay extra for a water view room for me is a waste.

When we are in the room with a water view that I was upgraded to we usually have the curtains closed. I feel like I am on exhibit with the curtains open. I also don't like to have them open with my computer sitting on the table. I don't want to give anyone any ideas.

It is nice to stand on the balcony and view the water but it isn't a traditional water view like when you stay oceanfront. I posted my opinion because I didn't want people to think you have this wonderful view out your window all the time. Sometimes in a water view room you have to be real creative to actually see the water from your window.

Also, sometimes folks booking a water view don't realize that a swimming pool counts as water.

Having a water view that turns out to be a pool view is not always a good thing!:earseek:
It was nice when we had a pool view at the Poly.....my DD is 12 yo and able to go to the pool on her own, but I still want to keep a eye on her. So, I was able to sit on the balcony or look out the window and just keep watch over her.
BUT.... it can be very noisy being right by the pool. We had families that went swimming at midnight and as early as 6:30am. It didn't bother me, but I can see where it might bother some others because they were quite loud.

Then again, at Poly, there is no "water view" that would include a "pool view" They only have "lagoon views". And for there, yes it is worth the extra $

I've stayed at all the moderates and IMHO....there's not one that I would pay extra for a "water view".
