Preferred rooms at POR

The grounds are beautiful so a morning walk to the main building is quite nice. You could always book standard and request a building close to the main area. Not guaranteed but it might keep you out of the farthest building. Gotta weigh the money vs the convenience! Good luck!

We only stayed at POR once and had a garden view room. We usually don't book standard view because I don't want to face a parking lot. I think preferred would be worth it if you think you will have refillable mugs and will be using the food court a lot.

I was able to do it online after I made the reservation. Directly on the website in my MDE account. Once I linked my reservation to my MDE account, I was able to add special requests and check in online.

Is the South Depot the first stop? I thought I read it was the last therefore being the most crowded

Typically yes, South is the last depot picked up. They usually start with West and make their way around.

I've ever booked preferred at PoR. The walk is so beautiful. The only time I think it would be beneficial is if you have a refillable mug. Idk $400-$500 could buy lots of soda.

There's more than one so I would request "close to food court".

You can't really have that in a standard room. You can be close to a bus stop though. I would make that your only request.

I see dandad posted the opposite. I don't think you can get both close to the food court and the bus stop by booking standard. More than likely you need to pick one or the other. And realize neither is guaranteed. My last stay at POR my only request was close to a bus stop and I was placed smack dab in between 2 of them, close to neither.

In the future, I would pay for preferred when staying at POR, if it wasn't too much of a difference. The last two times I did not pay for preferred, but requested "near food court". One time I got building 16 and the other time 36 iirc, so ymmv. If you are not in the preferred area, the walk can be very meandering.

We usually perfer POFQ and I always book standard, if available. I think I got a room facing the parking lot one time, other times I faced the courtyard from building 3 or 4 or 5. That's GV? Anyway, there are no bad locations at POFQ, imo. The resort is just so small.

If the difference in cost is multi hundred dollars, I think I would not request preferred. But again, I would probably book POFQ over POR for that reason.
