Preferred Rooms at ASMo?

I just booked 2 rooms at ASMo for Sept 27-Oct 4 and requested that our location be the 101 Dalmatians Bldg. The reservations agent told me that this would be a Preferred rate. Is this accurate?

We stayed at ASMo in April 2002 and were in the Toy Story Bldg. We were charged for a regular room then. At that time, the Fantasia Bldgs. were the only Preferred rooms. Now, the agent said that Toy Story, Fantasia, and 101 Dalmatians are ALL the Preferred location rooms. I know I shouldn't complain because we are getting 40% discount with the Military Salute offer; however, I just do not like receiving incorrect information (I know that's a big laugh since I am dealing with CRO).

We are going to ASMo 8/30 to 9/4 and requested Toy Story. We didn't get charged for a Prefered view. We booked a month or so ago. I wonder if they just changed it......

When I booked AS Movies I did not request anything specific, nor did I send a fax in.

When we checked in, we were going to be placed in the Love Bug area (no!) so I asked if there was anything else available...and got the Toy Story area. We were not charged extra.

The only area that is still considered preferred is the Fantasia area.

I was under the impression too that the Fantasia buildings were the only preferred buildings. If they're going to say that Fantasia, Toy Story and the Dalmations buildings are all preferred, that's practically all of their buildings. That just doesn't make any sense. Maybe you should call up again and talk to someone else, you'll probably get a different story.

We stayed at ASMo in November 2001 and we stayed at the 101 Dalmation bldg. There wasn't an extra charge then. We are going in September this year and hope to stay in the Toy Story bldg.

By the way I love this board!! It is fantastic!!

I took TiggerPiglet's suggestion and called to Reservations yet again. This time I spoke with a knowledgable agent and she couldn't believe that I was given that kind of misinformation. She saw that I requested the Dalmatians Bldg. and that I was being charged the Preferred rates. The CM gladly changed my ressies and now I will save almost $100.

It is true that the Fantasia area is the only Preferred rooms. Persistance pays off! Thank you all for your responses! Now I can begin my countdown to Disney, too.

I think 1st floor 101 Dalmations is preferred. It was much closer than some of the other buildings, including the Fantasia buildings. There are 2 of each building though--I think 1 Fantasia and 1 101 building are Preferred and the others are standard--but I'm not positive. We just got back from a 101 room that was as close to the Main Building and Pool as you could get.

What are the differences between the preferred rooms and the standard rooms. I've booked a preferred room. I think my DD would possibly like the Toy Story building. She loves Woody.

Usually preferred rooms are the closest to the main building (food court area, bus area), but it really depends on where in the preferred building you are staying.

The Toy Story, not preferred, had some rooms that were just as close to the Food Court as the rooms in Fantasia (preferred).

The huge Woody & Buzz are great though, but our room was on the back side, definitely not preferred, but it was either that or the Love Bug area...which was the last one my list...
