Does anyone know how much more a preferred room is at CBR? I will be bringing my mom with me and am afraid it may be too much walking for her. Thanks!!

It is about $28 a night if you are looking at the "rack" rate for the room. We booked under a 30% discount special and the add'l charge was $20 a night. We decided it was worth the extra to be near the main pool and dining area because we are going in June and figured we would be tired and hot by the end of the day. That said we have usually stayed in Aruba and only had a 5 minute walk to Ol Port Royale which was never that bad. This will be our first trip trying the preferred room. We will see if it is worth the extra money. :)

When we stayed at CBR we did not pay for preferred. We were upgraded at check in. I was glad because it was a very big resort and I was the one who ran to get bkfst for the family in the morning so I was happy to be close to food.

thanks for the info everyone. not sure if it's in the budget, but I appreciate the advice.

I would get preferred if that is what you think will work best. We just have a standard room. If we do anything we would move to POR in a royal room for the girls. We have stayed at SSR so the long walk won't really bother us.

I have stayed in a preferred room on the backside of Martinique 24 (so as far away as you can be in a preferred room) and in a standard room on the backside of Aruba 51 (which is one of the buildings that people recommend if you don't want a long walk, but don't want to pay preferred). If I stay there again, we'll book a preferred room. Maybe I'm just lazy, but after walking in the parks all day, I really don't want to walk that far just to fill my mug in the evening. We hardly used our mugs when we were in the Aruba building and if we had been any further would not have used them at all.

Of course, I am not a fan of CBR anyway. For some reason that resort just feels huge to me and the buses were always crowded. It's very pretty, but huge.

OT: If she has trouble walking, you might want to consider getting an ECV for your mom. That way she'd be guaranteed a seat on the bus and you wouldn't have to worry about her stamina. My mom never uses an ECV around here, but with her severe arthritis that causes her to fall alot, there is no way she could possibly do the walking that a WDW trip requires. She fought getting one her first trip, but now the first thing she says, if we are planning a trip is "Don't forget to order my scooter".

so how far is it from Mart. 24? Never been there so trying to get a feel. I will put in a request for the closest buildings but of course there's no guarantee.
