Preferred Pet Loop

Thanks so much for the map!!!!

Is the transportation as complicated as it seems? I remember just walking down to the Settlement Depot and getting all the buses there, but that was at least 10 years ago and my memory is only so-so, probably due in great part to the Greatful Dead thing ;)

Thanks!

Jennifer

:) I found it's all right to ask the bus drivers if they make stops along a certain route. I think one of the bus routes is supposed to be a straight shot between depots, I'm not sure. Anyway, I would politely ask the driver if he or she stops at 1300 loop or whatever, and most of the time, they say, yup, can do. Don't be afraid to ask. ;)

So now I'm thinking we'd prefer to be nearer the Outpost? Are there still bike racks near the bus stops? Epcot is going to be the focus of this trip. Scott is not a Disney fan but he loves the Food and Wine Festival.

Does the boat run after Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Festival?

Thanks so much for taking the time to help me with this!

Jennifer

The boat will run as long as the MK is open, and the Halloween party is part of the MK -- no worries.

You probably know this already, but just in case -- you can take the boat to MK and transfer to the monorail for Epcot, if you want something different from the bus.

Although post #16 above is very well written, the map posted is old and out of date. That map shows the old Orange route, and also states that the bus for MGM Studios leaves from the Settlement. MGM Studios is now called Hollywood Studios, and the bus, like the bus for Epcot, and AK leaves from the Outpost. Here is a more current map:

Note that both the Purple and Orange routes travel through the cabin loops.

The transportation is not complicated at all. You will have it all figured out within a very short time after you arrive.

Have fun!

So, which bus is best from loop 300 for getting to/from the Outpost? Should we just bike it or is the internal bus best?

Thanks again!

There is a bus stop right across from the entrance to the 300 loop.

There are only two possible choices of buses which will stop there. The bus will either say Settlement Yellow or Outpost Yellow. If it says Settlement Yellow, it's heading to the Settlement. I'll bet you can figure out where it is going if it says Outpost Yellow.

It's as simple as that.

If you have bikes, it isn't a bad ride to the Outpost. But, it is a bit of a ride. So if the weather is bad, or if you think you are going to be tired when you return, you might want to take the bus. Also, if you don't have lights on your bikes, I wouldn't want to ride all the way from the Outpost to the 300 loop at night. The buses run pretty regularly, and I would wager that you that you wouldn't save much time, if any, by biking.

If you are on the 300 loop, consider yourself lucky regarding your bus route. The Yellow bus route is by far the fastest between the Outpost and Settlement, as it has the least number of stops. Plus, your bus stop is right across from your loop entrance. The folks on 100, 200 and 400, have to walk a ways for a bus stop.

Again, don't worry about the transportation- you will figure it out and be an old pro in no time after your arrival.

Thanks TCD, I quickly googled and found a transporation map. (I'll try to edit my post...)

Leaving your site, you simply want to get on a bus for the Settlement, or Outpost, color doesn't matter.

It's when you return that you want to get on a certain color. And you olnly care what color it is when it leaves the stop. As folks have said, the drivers are very helpful, just ask them anything on your mind.

It really is quite simple. What's confusing is remembering how it used to be and thinking it'll work the same.

Thanks so much everyone. We used to camp here at least once each year but haven't been in over a decade.

I know it seems like I'm worrying about nothing but we do have the most unbelievable ability to get lost.
