Preferred or standard room?

I have already booked and paid for our vacation package. I was considering upgrading to a preferred room. I was just wondering what the pros and cons of staying in the different rooms.

Any advice is appreciated.

We just were at POR last month, and had a preferred room (building 14), and were grateful we had it after those long park days! It's a pretty large resort, I'd take a look at the map (at port Orleans.org) and possibly make a decision based on that. Good luck!

Maybe I enjoy walking around the beautiful property, but I don't recall thinking the Preferred room we got was any better than the non-preferred (we were upgraded so we didn't pay the difference). I guess it depends on the person. I do know that we were in a Preferred room, and the building over from us was non-preferred...not sure one building over was worth the cost. I'm sure it's worth it for some of the resorts, but POR was the perfect size to me. Enjoy!
