I am currently pricing a trip in the fall and wanted to know opinions on a question.

I am wanting to stay at All Star Music (we stayed last year...but we were in the last building, it was a 20 minute round trip to the lobby and back) I have the money to stay in a preferred room, but what would be the chances of doing online check-in and asking to stay in the Broadway buildings.... Because I would be happy with that building, but I am not sure if we can get it. I don't want to be stuck in the Country building again.

I am torn as to what to do.... pay for preferred or wing it and try to request a specific building that isn't preferred.

It's this family's opinion that paying extra $$ for preferred isn't worth it at any WDW resort. And we've been placed in the furthest rooms at Music, Movies, POR and CBR. Not once did we feel we should have booked preferred.

It is this family's opinion to pay for the preferred if you have it. Who wants to have to walk 20 minutes to and from their room, no thanks.

It was a miserable walk especially when you are headed out for the day, make to it the lobby to realize your hubby forgot the diaper bag and had to go back.....that will make a person angry :scared:

I don't see the perk in paying for preferred other then closeness at ASMu (preferred are located in Calypso building) . We are wanting to go for 9 days this trip. It costs an extra $168 to do preferred.

Depending on your room location in Country, you could be further away from the main building in Broadway. Why not request Jazz?

I've stayed at Music twice. Both times we've been in Jazz. If we were to stay there again, I would pay for preferred so that I would be in Calypso.

Since requests are never guaranteed, I don't like to risk it. We always pay for what we need just in case we would be placed in a far room. I think preferred rooms are always about closeness and well worth it at some resorts. Especially ASMu.

I have thought about Jazz...I just really like the Broadway theme and agree that chancing it could get us further out and I am not a fan of that. But again I take a big chance with a request to begin with because last year I requested anything but the last building, got the last building. And requested a pack-n-play (4 months before our trip) we checked in and informed it was in the room, it was not, called and it took them over 8 hours to get us one. So i guess I got rubbed the wrong way the first time using requests. I know they aren't guaranteed...but dang!

If you truly want Broadway, go for it. But I would seriously consider paying the extra for preferred knowing you are then guaranteed Calypso. Good luck! :goodvibes

I think for me I would always pay the little bit extra for a preferred section at a Value resort if we stay at one again. We have a preference to stay at the mods now but if we ever do go Value again a Preferred location would definitely be our choice.

I like to book preferred when possible, especially at ASMu. You could consider paying standard at Movies or Sports where the furthest walks from standard are shorter.

How unhappy/disappointed/angry would you be if your request isn't granted and you are placed in one of the farthest away buildings. Since you said you have the money to pay for a preferred room I would weigh the cost vs how I would feel about making the long walk for 9 days.

This is exactly it. You can request any building, but won't always have that request granted. The near-in non-preferred buildings are popular requests and every request for close-in non-preferred will not be met, because demand is higher than supply.

If you would be disappointed by being in a distant building and it would be a negative for your trip, pay for preferred.

I stayed Preferred last time at Coronado Springs and loved the location. It was worth the money after each long day at the parks. Pay the extra for location.

I payed for preferred at Music, had Calyoso building, and I don't regret it one bit, we were like 2 min to main building and 3 to bus stop, I say it's worth it.

Book preferred, you'll be glad you did when your feet hurt after a long hot day in the parks. This is, after all, a vacation!:tiptoe:

Yes I know that's why I am not sure if I want to gamble....
