Hi there! I was wondering wether or not a preferred location at POP would be worth the extra money? My mother has some mobility problems so she booked preferred but honestly we are taking a friend's child and the extra money could be used elsewhere. Would they not have to try to put us close to food court/bus stop because of her condition anyway. We don't care about the veiw I mean heck,
'We'll be at DISNEY!' Please any info helpful.

Some of the 50's and 70's buildings are just as close as the prefered 60's. You can get a W/C or ECV to help your mom with her mobility issues. If she will have a problem walking an extra few hundred feet at the resort i dont see how she will be able to do without one in the parks.

The resorts have a limited number of W/c for free to resort guests. If you want an ECV it is cheaper to get one from an outside company than to rent one daily at the parks.

Thanks, yeah we are looking into ECV. She has MS so good days and bad days, like I said we aren't going to Disney to sit in resort room but if I remove the preferred I would feel awful if we were stuck somewhere way out. We are also considering using the resort chairs for at the resort and renting evc at the park only on days she feels she needs it. I guess we will know closer to dec. what she'll need. How much farther is the regular rooms vs. preferred? What are the benefits of preferred?

You can still be stuck pretty far back even in the prefered. In my opinion I wouldn't spend the extra for a prefered room. Make sure you call and let them know about your mom's mobility issues and remind them at check in. I bet they wil try to get you as close as possible and like others have said there are close rooms that aren't in the prefered buildings.

Check out the disABILITIES board and they will be able to answer a lot of your questions and give you great advise. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=&f=20

I am a neuro nurse so i know about MS. I hope that she has all "good" days while she is away. I would look into renting an ECV from an outside agency. They can get very expensive when getting them from Disney. The buses can accomodate them.

I wouldnt spend the extra money on the prefered rooms I would ask to be in the 50's building A that is very close to the Food Court and Bus Stops.
