Preferred Fireworks viewing

Doesn't it have a cover above your head? It must have a very limited amount of people that can view from there then, about 10-20ppl would you say?

I don't actually recall. I have never taken the boat across the lake there and this is the first time I am getting the fireworks viewing with my package as I didn't use Disney UK before. There were some questions about it on the main board last year, but nobody knows too much as it is not offered as a perk in the US unless you book one of the premium or platinum packages, which proportionately very few people do so it has been hard to get info on it. I will do a search sometime and see if I can find it, but I seem to recall that it was slightly off topic so the thread name didnt suggest this as part of the discussion.

We used the illuminations viewing area last October - yes it is in Morocco at teh boat dock - there was only us and one other family booked to use the area, so it was fab loads of space, especially as we watched on a bank holiday where Epcot was really busy.

It might not be the best viewing area in WS - but it was great for us (we could see the globe) and we liked the fact you could turn up 10 mins before the fireworks were due to start and have a front row viewing space.

We only booked our spots about a month before we went as well - no need to phone 180 days before :)

Thanks Gemma, might look in the doing that when we go.

Thanks Gemma, that is the info I was looking for. I will report back in October this year to confirm nothing has changed. How was the spot for photos? I didn't get great photos last year because we were not right in the front so you would occasionally get someone's hair or a bit of their head as they moved into the frame  - especially the pics over the lake.

The guides that look after the area told us to keep to the left hand side as the view from the right isnt as good (and the boat dock slopes down as well), from the left the view was clear - and I think it would be pretty good for photos, there was a wall to lean on too.

All the ducks from Epcot seem to hang out there and we thought it was hilarious when they quacked all the way through illuminations below us on the lake!

Sounds like fun!!! Can you confirm for one of the previous posters whether the dock is covered?

No its not - you don't get to actually stand on the dock (the bit at waters edge) it is barried off for H&S (guess so you don't fall in?!) instead your stood at on the upper level - where you would walk down to the boat dock if that makes sense?

Okay, I'm with you now. I'm actually really looking forward to this :goodvibes I wonder if I did a split reservation with 2 bookings if I would get 2 viewing opportunities ......

Thanx for that info :thumbsup2

I just booked my preferred viewing for Illuminations and the CM said that it used to be check in at Morocco, but it has now changed. She tried for ages to find out where new check in is, but couldn't find anything. She said to check with Guest Services at anytime we arrive in WDW, but I might call a month or two beforehand and find out where the new location is.
