Hi -

had a letter today regarding our Xmas 08 booking. In addition to several not so interesting freebies, e.g. 15 dollar Planet Hollywood Voucher, free round of miniature golf, one extra seems a lot better:

It seems if you book a Disney Moderate, Deluxe or Deluxe Villa Resort you get access to special viewing locations for Illuminations and Wishes. Apparently the detail will be sent with the travel documents.

The Wishes one isn't so important to us as we've booked an MK view room in the Contemporary Tower, but the Illuminations one could be great. Does anyone know anything more, e.g. where the locations are, how many people they take and whether you just get to use it once.

We ate at the Rose and Crown last time to see Illuminations but it was very much like being back in the U.K. as the service and food quality was the worst of our trip, so had maybe thought about booking an Illuminations Cruise and searching for people to share. If this viewing location is good enough we might not bother.

Interesting - we had a bad experience here on our last day, our sentiments entirely.

Did the cruise and it was a great experience, shared with two others families and had a full boat but if you get a spot on the bridge directly above, you get the same view and save money.

I can't help you but I just wanted to say the view from the Contemporary is amazing and I'm so jealous as this is my fav resort for views. Nothing like stepping out onto your balcony and watching the fireworks every evening with the music playing on the tv.

Did you book direct with Disney for Xmas 08, to get these freebies, as we booked POR for next Xmas with Virgin and wondered if we would get anything like this :confused3

We had VIP illuminations tickets in August due to an ADR change as Teppanyaki wasn't opened in time!

The area is between the 2 shops which are between Canada and Mexico, ie right in the middle! It is a sloped area and you basically sit on the floor. One big thing though about 5 mins (maybe less) before the show starts they open an area right at the front, almost on the water, ropes are dropped at both sides of the front of the viewing area. We didn't know about this and had set up camp on the slopes and were slightly annoyed when the ropes dropped and everyone ran for it, wish we had been prewarned. We still ended up with a wonderful view and weren't cramped :thumbsup2

BTW I booked direct with Disney about a month ago for August 08 and haven't had any letter yet, when did you book?

Hi -

We're staying at POR August 14th to 28th, hopefully we'll get a letter soon, need to hide it from the kids though as they don't know yet :goodvibes
