Prefer Parks "Non-Holiday" Decorated. Is it Just Me?

I'll have to let you know after we go next month :rotfl: I have not seen WDW "naked" in 12 yrs-we always go in December so this will be so different than our trips since our honeymoon in 1994!!! :rotfl:

What irks me is that they leave all the decorations up and XMas music playing through the first week of January. For gosh sake, Christmas is over ... give us a break!

You're not the only one! It's worked out best for us to take a few of our trips during the holiday season, but we prefer the parks to be all about Disney. We weren't exactly thrilled when we arrived last January 7th, and the decorations remained up until the middle of the following week. They're beautiful, but I prefer Disney music as I'm strolling up Main Street. There's something depressing about hearing and seeing holiday images when it's after the fact.

Of course, it must not be the absolute worst thing, or our 2007 trip wouldn't be scheduled for the first 2 weeks of December. :teeth:

Disney at Christmas is FABULOUS and we go every year for the decorations and music and festivities. There are plenty of other months during the year for people to go to Disney if they do not enjoy Christmas at Disney. Just curious, do you feel the same way about Halloween????

Gawrsh... I thought I was the only one who felt this way! :p I love Disney and I love Christmas, but I just don't like seeing WDW decked out for Christmas. Not that I would never go again around that time, but I much prefer it to be undecorated.

Actually, and this is speaking as a religious professional so take it for what it's worth, Christmas does not properly begin until Christmas Eve and it runs 12 days all the way to Epiphany (January 6).

We love seeing Disney decorated. No one does it like Disney. We did, however, hate that pink castle, and I, too, hope when we go the end of October that the castle is back to being just the "castle."

I've never seen the Christmas decorations IRL, but I HATED the castle when it was painted hot pink an decorated like a cake. Yuck.

For me, it's too warm in Florida for it to be Christmas! I'd rather go in September any day. And I avoid MNSSHP, too.

The cake decor was not attractive. Anytime there was a strong wind, the spires blew around.

However, I love the "bling." I think it's gorgeous.

I love WDW at holiday time so much that I made two last-minute quickie trips the past two Decembers - even though both years I also went in October. I just had to get my fix and see the Lights of Winter and the Candlelight Processional at Epcot, the Osborne Lights at MGM, MVMCP at the Magic Kingdom, and all the gorgeous Christmas trees in the parks and hotels. I also happened to be there during MouseFest both years: www.mousefest.org

We went January 5-13, 2006. I was totally relieved the holidays were over and ready for vacation. I was soooooooo disappointed everything was still decorated! Even some of the characters were still dressed up in holiday costumes. I was thrilled to get a pic of my kids with Mickey and Minnie together at AK but bummed they were wearing Santa hats and holiday clothes. It was a relief when the decorations started disappearing. By the end of the trip they were gone and I much preferred "plain" Disney!

You and me both, honey!

I prefer the Flower and Garden Festival time. Love all the flowers and the warmer weather.

I like a mix! Christmas is amazing, Halloween is very fun, and I'm glad to have "neutral" decor the rest of the year.

We have been there twice without Christmas decorations and this time I made a point of going for the decorations! I can't wait to see it all decorated! If I was only getting one trip ever I guess I would probably prefer it without, to see the "real" WDW. But right now I am very psyched about seeing it at Christmas...with no &*(^% snow and palm trees (I am a northerner, can you tell?)

Oh, me too, definitely! I have gone early May the last two years and much prefer the F&G festival to the Holiday decorations!

Glad to see so many others get what I am saying about the Holidays at Disney, I'm gonna have to show this thread to my sister!
