Pre-Trip: Where has the fall gone???

Poof and the last few days went flying by and today is when we pack it all up and start the drive north back into the cold. FL weather was semi kind to us this year, thought it has been dryer it was still warm enough to wear shorts or go without a jacket most of the trip.

MK was great, and Be Our guest was ok as well. I consider it a dine once experience, the food was good, the rooms where amazing, and service was amazing. But for that kind of money, I would much rather dine at Artist Point or a similar fine dining restaurant.

Thought we did find our kid side and ride the teacups.

We both got off the ride saying "what where we thinking"

On Thursday it was more park time and off to Hoop Dee Doo Review. I always love that show and the food is not bad either. Caren had never seen it before, so it was a great experience for her.

Friday was time spent shopping in downtown Disney and then off to Epcot for Illuminations, we missed it the first time due to being rained out. A friend surprised us with one of the desert reservations to watch. The location was amazing, but for the price you would have expected more then glorified rice crispy treats, ice cream and lemonade. There was not even soda available. But we did enjoy it as best we could but all agreed that it was a special occasion expense for sure.

Then it was off to Epcot Magic hours to finally ride Sorin and Test Track. Since you can't fastpass both initially and Test Track was rained out on us Tuesday, we did all we could on that.

I am hoping for a smooth drive home, but now its time to pack it up and head out.

The trip home went well. Saturday I was packed and out a little on the late side but that was due to some issues loading the golf carts on the trailer taking us longer then we expected. But once the carts where loaded and hitched to a friends Class C, I was up to hitch up and pull out.

We made good time and did not see much for traffic, but with not liking the Santee Lake area campgrounds (tried several, all of them are very unlevel) we decided to stop early around 6:30 at New Green Acres rather then push for Florance. Since we had an earlier then normal stop it was nice to wind down with everyone and had a wonderful steak dinner thanks to a friend cooking that night.

Sunday the drive was long at 8.5 hours total, but it went smooth and clear all the way back. I had some issues getting parked in my normal spot as someone left a disabled car in a spot at the shop that make it a little difficult to slip into my spot. But I managed to get in well enough to plant for the night. Even though I only leave 15 miles from the shop, since I have power and the ability to dump I always stay over when I get back, plus the family that joins us from PA also spends the night there. Once we got settled we had some tasty leftovers, and talked about this trip and when we want to go next year. Eventually we gave it up for the night.

Monday I didnt sleep in, but I did not get up as early as I would for work. I was a little lazy to get going, but after some coffee and breakfast I got to the task of repacking everything and unloading the RV. That alone took a few hours to do when it includes all the linens that need to be washed again. By about 3 I was done packing and loading the truck, it was packed to the gills (loaded the RV in about 3 trips, unloaded it in 1.) Then I went onto the task of cleaning the RV, I could leave it for later but I just like to have it nice and clean so come March its just hitch up and go.

Once it was all cleaned up, I dumped the tanks one last time and turned to winterizing the RV. But about 4ish I was on my way home with the pups. Man they where excited to be home, and I was a little too. But I think my Aussie just likes to be able to go outside without a leash. I then spent the next hour unloading the truck and putting things away as well as starting the normal post vacation laundry.

It was intersting that by about 8pm my pups where out cold. Like they where exhausted from the vacation and travel time. Which could be true, they got lots of long walks and time spent in the dog parks.

Today is back to work I still have hundreds of pictures to sort through and as I find some more I will share them here.

So how was New Green Acres ?? This is were we plan on stopping on the trip down in a month.

PA Hunter - The Sites are LONG, very long. But they are all 30A full Hookup. Two of us had no issues with power, but a friend in site 35 had no power even after we reset the breaker, he had to plug into 36 and that breaker kept popping and due to his CPAP machine we had to run nearly 100' of cord to another outlet and really did not want to use it as it was burnt up.

I did not use the bath house, but I suspect if they are not keeping up maintince on their power, they probably are slacking on the bath house too. I would use them as another overnight stop as unlike Point South KOA which has no issues with power/maintinence is really tight and when we stopped there on the southbound I was actually unable to fit into my site and basically parked in the road with enough room to reach power and water.

Thank you, we are planning on staying hooked that night and probably won't need showers either. Only staying that night to sleep. Hope we get electric that works, but will pack an extra cord or two just in case, need my CPAP also.

John didnt even ask for a refund on the site. But he did call and complain about the level of maintinence on the breakers and outlets. From what I observed they have pretty solid power feed and distribution.

I will give you the tip, when you get off the highway from southbound 95, its the first right hand turn and a near u-turn at that so be prepared. Entrance into the site is at a tight corner but nice and wide and easy to get into. The Lanes to each row of site where wide enough and even with the F350CC and a 40' 5th wheel had all the swing room I needed to get into the park, down and into my site, and egress as well.

Glad you made it home safe and sound. Sounds like you and Caren had a nice long, relaxing trip to the Fort. I enjoyed meeting you and you showing me your golf cart handiwork.

Thanks Ed, Really the drive was smooth and we had a wonderful time. It was new for me as I have done Disney Solo for so long, I had to get used to having someone to do stuff with.

Discusions for 2016 have already started. Right now we are talking about delaying our arrival a week and showing up Sunday after Run Disney in hopes of warmer weather. Caren and I are now discussing a trip with just us and her Children in Summer 2016. So AP is likely for me if that is true.

First we all need to agree on the Winter trip (3 Families had to concur) then work on the rest of the planning. For 2015 I don't think I will be back but there are talks about Luray, Pigeon Forge, or somewhere else once school is out. The racing season starts in March so that always has to be worked into the overall schedule.
