As some of you will know I was supposed to be going on our annual family trip to Leiwen in Germany on Friday (04.09.09) for a week.

My Grandad is not well and although the hospital say that there is little chance of him getting worse understandably my Mum doesn't feel that being in Germany is the right place to be at the moment. She is more worried with my Nan coping with Grandad once he is out of hospital.

Yesterday we had the phonecall that we had been expecting for a few weeks and they decided that they wouldn't go on holiday. As we share the acomodation we also share the cost and the cost is too high for us on our own to cover so we decided to look into alternatives.

We have checked various places in the UK such as Pontins, Butlins and also Center Parks (£750 for the week :scared1:) and we were averaging quotes for around £300 per week for the family. This isn't really that high but I'm someone who feels that holiday should be abroad and not somewhere we could easily go for the day.

We started looking in France and obvoiusly DLRP always comes up when we look at France :lmao: We really couldn't find anything that wasn't too expensive on-site or at a partner hotel so we looked back into the Shack at Le Chene Gris where we have stayed twice.

We finally decided on a Luxury Tent (the first time I'll have been camping in 13 years!) at the stunning price of £111 for the week.

So...going on this trip:

Me - John, 27

DW - Ellie, 26

DS1 - Kacee, 2

DS2- Macklyn, 6 months

No idea what's going on at DLRP or what days we are going...all I know is that on Saturday and Sunday it is Francillian AP blackout days so we are hoping that they will be quiet.

We plan on getting to the park for EMH on Saturday and then going back to the tent at Lunchtime before returning in the evening as the aprk is open until 10pm.

We also plan on eating at some of the buffets this year as their is an AP offer for 16euros per person and the boys eat free :cool1:

u sneaky so n so - thats no notice for my shopping list for u!!!!! :lmao::lmao:

dont blame u tbh, it is a fab price, although hope weather settles a bit more for u (and itll be better than here lol)

as u say, u can do what u want when u want - which means no plans and go with the flow!!!!!!!

sorry, tho, to hear bout ur grandad. can perfectly understand ur mums feelings, bet it wasnt an easy choice. hoping hes settled now, and makes a bit of improvement (if thats poss??)

cant wait for ur tr and will i have to watch my phone for buzz updates??? :rotfl:wud u like me to retext my score in case u forget what u need to beat??

seriously - have a fab time, boys will be so excited!!!

How exciting!!! :cool1: Not jealous at all, well, maybe a little bit... :lmao:

I shall look forward to your trip report then!! Especially any tips on eating out with small people! :goodvibes

Good luck with the camping!! :rotfl:

Have a great trip cap'n and crew - we'll need pics of this luxury tent too :goodvibes !!

Oh my goodness. It has "real beds". That puts my mind at rest as I thought you may be sleeping on fake ones......! :lmao:

Looks great! I'll keep my fingers crossed for nice weather for you :-)

Thanks...my biggest tip for eating at DLRP with really little ones is not to panic too much about having a proper CS lunch. We tend to take a snack bag and sarnies for Kacee and let him pick during the day and have his sarnies when we stop for lunch, the CS food is so expensive and the kiddies are so hyped up by Disneyland that we find Kacee tends not to eat much. There is nothing more stressfull than queueing for 20 minutes for him to eat two chips and then say that he is finished :goodvibes

Thanks...there will be many a picture I'm sure. I'm not really a camping sort of person but we thought it would be fun for Kacee and it's so cheap...the main concern I have is that there is no shower or toilet...just communal ones and that scares the bejesus out of me :lmao:

Lol! Thanks. The beds look ok...I thought we'd be sleeping on the floor but to have a 'real bed' and matress does sound luxury :lmao: Weather looks quite promising at the moment, looks to be sunny and 24 degrees from Friday to Sunday (that's as far as my iPhone weather app goes up to :goodvibes)

Well you'll have to save them up for October :)

He seems to be doing fine at the moment. It doesn't help that my Mum is an only child so everything falls to her (and my Dad) to do...glad I'll have both boys to look after me when I'm old and wrinkly!

cant wait for ur tr and will i have to watch my phone for buzz updates??? :rotfl:wud u like me to retext my score in case u forget what u need to beat??

That would be grand...need some motivation to beat it :lmao: it was a serioulsy good score and I'm certain I'll struggle...I guarantee to beat it before the end of my October trip though :goodvibes

Sorry to hear about your grandad. I know what your mum is going through as my dad was an only child & had loads of stress & pressure whn my nan was ill last year:hug:

Have a wonderful time though:goodvibes Your braver then me as I don't do camping:eek:

Sorry to hear your Grandad is still poorly John

Hope you have a lovely time and remember, find me the cheapest gift in DLRP you can find (I'm on a tight budget :lmao: )
