So here we go again plotting and laying plans for a dazzling vacation to WDW. Although this ought to be interesting in some respects as while we have the resorts book a whole lot else is still up in the air. Part of this is because we're still 273 long, long days from our vacation and part of it is because this next trip is the start of our (cue trumpets) ONE YEAR OF WALT DISNEY WORLD. Li Li and I are planning to get APs, and once one decides to through down for APs it means we better make them worth it which means many trips. Right now we are thinking nearly a week in November. A short three nighter in January. Perhaps a four or five nighter in May to be finished by a week in September, 2016. (I know. Why not another one in October. Perhaps a food and wine weekend dash? Even I think that might be taking it bit far, I think.) Some of our goals as always are to try stay at some new places during this year, try some new restaurants, while doing some things that we try to do on each trip.)

Before, I go any further some background. Li Li, my wife and I, are big fans of Walt Disney World. I am more a fan of WDW itself, while Li Li pretty much love everything Mouse and Walt. I went to WDW on four family trips as a kid from '78 to '90, while Li Li went on two family trips one in the late 80s and one in the mid 90s. I also did a day at MK in '92 during Spring break, a day at EPCOT in ;97 during law school spring break, a day at AK shortly after 9/11. From '08 to '11 once a year we'd visit my snow birding parents in Orlando, Florida and spent two or three days on property at parks and whatnot each year. Then in '12 we spent a week the Dolphin, in '13 we did two three nights trips that year one at AKL and one at POR. In '14 we did a last minute trip in May to attend the 24 hours at MK and then we spent a long week in September, '14 with one night at Movies and the rest of the time POFQ. This September trip came with free DD, so we really lived it up food wise. We attended FOUR character breakfasts, Li Li is mad about meeting characters, the Hoopdeedoo which I wanted to do, among other gluttonous activities. Our most recent trip was a two night stay at CS before we traveled down to see my parents at their new snow birding city of Sarasota.

This sets up our upcoming trip. While at CS we booked a bounce back to stay at WL. We had four nights booked at WL for 35% off, so the WL pretty much is priced at the rack rate of POR or POFQ. (As we consider ourselves moderate resort types, this is pretty darn cool.) We then decided to add two nights at AOA Little Mermaid rooms at the start of the trip. So right now we have six lovely nights booked with a split stay. We've always wanted to stay at WL, and this is a pretty good deal. We've stayed at Pop and thought it was nice, but across the Generations Bridge AoA called us. We are hoping to spend some time enjoying the underwater music at AoAs pool.

Li Li went ahead and purchased from Undercover Tourist three day park hoppers so that she can do her ticket voodoo and use them to lock in the current rate for our APs when we purchase them on our trip. She is in charge of tickets. I have every faith that she'll make it work.

We are still debating how we are going to get from South Central Pennsylvania to Orlando. We have always flown. I drove down to Florida in college but that was many years ago. We've flown from Philly, BWI, direct from Harrisburg, and even Trenton. We might fly this year, or we are seriously considering driving down and back. We looked into the auto train, but it crazy expensive. For the price I'd rather fly down and rent a car and then enjoy the leftover funds.

One reason we want to drive is just because we have not done so in the past. Another reason is we are pondering coming down with our beloved dog at some point during our ONE YEAR OF WALT DISNEY WORLD, but before we'd put him through auto hell, I'd want to do a test run first. Finally, Li Li can bring nearly unlimited shoes with her if we drive down. Suddenly, we can pack like caravan traders of old. Suit case weight 90 lbs? Who care it's not going on a plane.

Also, since we will be paying for all of our food out of pocket we are definitely not doing four character breakfast and three or four signature restaurants in six nights. We're big on quick service and the occasional signature meal. (Table service meals we're pretty meh over.) We have to plot which signature meal we'll do on this trip and which ones plan to do during the rest of ONE YEAR OF WALT DISNEY WORLD.

Now I am sure Li Li will read this and correct my errors.

So, what does it say about us (me and Nigel) that we are pretty much solely focused on our November WDW trip when we have another vacation, not to WDW, a mere 90 days away? I sometimes wonder if we have ruined ourselves for other vacations?

We talk and talk about what restaurants at WDW we are going to hit and what our park plans will be...when we are still an agonizing 263 days away!

Perhaps it just comes down to the fact that it seems like there will always be new stuff to see and do at Disney, or even old stuff...I'm looking at you, Tom Sawyer Island! (Can you believe we have not made it there yet during one of our many trips?!) And even without new stuff, I will still tear up when I see the welcome show or get a catch in my throat when I walk down Main Street for the first time in my trip.

I guess my point, if I have one, is at least we have good company here on the DISboards! :)

I completely understand where you are coming from...my husband and I have a beach trip planned for the end of May and I have not even decided where we are staying yet. The trip will be a good test run for us since we will be leaving my son with my Mom like we are planning on doing for our Disney trip. I need to get on the ball! :)

However, I enjoy planning our Disney so much! It will definitely be a different trip just the two of us and I'm really looking forward to spending the one on one time with my husband. We are looking forward to the meals as much as everything else. We never eat out just the two of us at home so it will be nice for us to have meals every day just us and not having to rush through the meals because the kids are done and ready to go! My must do meal on this trip is 'Ohana...I have never eaten there and I'm so looking forward to it. I will also be curious to see the progress at the Poly while we are there.

Another exciting aspect of this trip is we are considering getting AP's because we are planning on taking the kids back in April 2016, and it may just work out in our benefit to get AP for me and DH. Which means we would just have to take full advantage and make sure we get at least one more trip in before they expire..LOL.

So, what are the dates you will be there in November...based on your countdown looks like we will be there around the same time...we arrive have 269 days to go!

We going to be on property during the week of Veterans Day. Ohana is a neat experience. The food is uneven, but that kinda what you get with meat over an open fire. I enjoyed it more than Li Li. Just don't eat much the day of the meal. It's a lot of food in a short span of time.

Our other trip is to the Dominican Republic. There is not much to plan. Get breakfast, sit on beach, read . . . hop in pool . . . listen to iPhone . . . get lunch.

Li Li has made out of list of restaurants we want to attend over the course of ONE YEAR AT WALT DISNEY WORLD. We have yet to try Liberty Tree Tavern. On the other hand, I would hate to miss eating a dog at Casey's Corner. I must consume a Mickey Bar, or four.

I have already Google mapped the drive a dozen times. "So if we are on the road by 7:30am we could probably get to Orlando by 11pm or so, or stop around 9pm at south of Savannah and get to WDW before noon." It's pretty insane of me. We plan to upgrade to APs which is just begging for us a late night dash into a park. It would be great if MK was open late and we entered at 11pm for just a couple hours if we made it in time. Why? Because we can, and it would be cool. Again, pretty insane of us.

I feel like we don't have a very interesting PTR because I am really hoping to lay low on planning this year. Last year, mainly because of the free dining, I went crazy and had a spreadsheet and everything. I had every single day planned, and I think I annoyed Nigel to some extent with the multiple ADRs and FP+. I was so concerned about getting to the restaurants we planned on that there really wasn't a lot of "hangout, do whatever" time. Toward the end of our trip, he suggested skipping the FP for the festival of fantasy parade, but after he saw the reaction that elicited, he relented. Since I think the majority of our trips are mostly light on planning, he was kind of on overload. So, because I am such an understanding and loving wife :cutie::teeth:, we are definitely going light on the planning.

Here is what we have so far:
Definitely doing MMVMCP, since doing this is basically the whole reason for going in November. (Also, Osborne lights, fingers crossed).

We would really like to get back to California Grill, since we haven't been back since the refurb. But we also like Narcoosee's, so we'll have to see.

Definitely looking to check out all the food at Wilderness Lodge. We will definitely hit whispering canyon cafe!

That's really all we have so far. The thing I am puzzling over the most is ADR decisions. Since have have traditionally gone to WDW in January or September, walk ups for 2 adults have never really been a problem. But November is a whole new ballgame. I'm guessing with the wine and dine half and Veterans Day, it will be busy for at least the first half of the week, but not sure about the rest. Right now, I am planning on an ADR for California Grill, but we may just leave the rest to fate? Unless perhaps WCC is somewhere I should make an ADR? :rolleyes1

Hey congrats on the YEAR AT DISNEY WORLD. DW and I just finished up our first AP's and we had a blast with it. We didn't renew them, because we knew we were going to take a break for a bit. Our last trip down in NOV. (our last use of the AP) was because we ran the Tower Of Terror Ten Miler. When DW convinced me to start training for that, I told her that if we were going to do Disney running, I wanted to do the coast to coast challenge. So we are doing that in 2016. We do however have one last trip before then starting in just four short(painfully long) days!!!!

So my one piece of advice is DRIVE!!! we drive from Saint Louis every time. we have done it in one stretch but prefer to break it up. There really is not much good about the drive in my opinion. DW may think that there is fun just getting there, but I want it done and over. However there are many advantages to driving: you don't have to rely on bus transport, you can pack as much as you want, you can leave the bubble to get groceries so you not dependent on Disney food, and most importantly, you can bring your dog! I look forward to hearing about your trip.

Hey there! Nice to see you again! :wave2:
Yep, we plan to take the AP plunge!

The coast to coast will be awesome; I have a friend who completed it with her family. Have you been to Disneyland before? That is definitely wish list for us, after our year of Disney of course!

Definitely excited to try the drive.:drive: We've also been checking out RV rentals for future use to introduce Ike, our dog, to the smells of WDW, or at least Fort Wilderness. Plus, we really have liked walking around FW.

Have fun at your last 2015 trip to Disney!!!:flower1:

The drive might be great, or it could be a nightmare. I am withholding judgement. Although I am certain the drive home will be depressing.

Even though the Fort Wilderness trip during out ONE YEAR AT WALT DISNEY WORLD is over a year away, I have already watcedh a lot of YouTube videos on RV rentals for FW. Actually, they all look pretty nice. I am really looking forward to it.

October hours came out this weekend, which means it won't be long until we see November hours, yay!!! Also, I've been reading other trip reports and now I am thinking about special F&W events. Hmm, we'll have to see if we have any interest or budget to add some of those in.

Since I do not have much else to report, I thought I'd share our brand new luggage. The only luggage we have is an old set my parents gave me about eight years ago, and it is pretty beat up! So, for Xmas, we asked for money toward new luggage from Nigel's parents, especially since we have been borrowing their luggage bag. We took our Xmas money and hit some after Xmas sales and here's what we got.

We wanted something that would stand out and be easily recognizable. Also, anyone spot anything else?

A hidden Mickey perhaps?!

After all, it is American Tourister, the official luggage of WDW and Disneyland! :)

And while I was taking pictures, Pip wanted in on the action...

And we can't have Pip pictures without including Ike...

Look at that face! :dogdance:

Ugh, is anyone else having trouble concentrating today? It's Friday and I just want the workweek over! But I need to get stuff done at work. Has anyone seen my motivation?:charac2:

At least next week will be April and we can start waiting for the date to buy MMVMCP tickets! This weekend, I may try out the daily planner that See Ya Reel Soon put up on their website. After we watch this week's episode of course! Nigel and I keep hoping to see ourselves in a part of their videos since we did actually run into them last September, and we were in the same parks at the same time for some days. If you watch Joe and Ashley on See Ya Reel Soon, they are just as nice as they appear in their videos!!! Such a treat to meet them!!! Also, if you are not watching See Ya Reel Soon on YouTube, we highly recommend it. We definitely have a different park style than J&A, but we still love following along with them. Maybe tonight I'll edit this post to add the pic we got with them!

Your motivation must be hanging out with mine somewhere! UGH!

I just started watching the See Ya Reel Soon videos so I have A LOT of catching up to do, but they are just so cute!

We have a picture with them?

Yes, Joe and Ashley are the real deal.

BIG NEWS....We bought our Christmas party tickets! Woo hoo. Awhile ago, I mentioned to Nigel that we could possibly wait even up to the time of the trip to get them. That way we could have a better sense of the weather, maybe get an AP discount (?), etc. I got a resounding No on that idea though and I do agree that I wouldn't want to take a chance on the party date selling out, so I went online and bought them the same evening they came out. November 12th MMVMCP, here we come!

Our reasoning for that date is as follows. Sunday the 8th is the first MMVMCP of the year, so I worried it would be too much of a crush. The next party on the 10th is followed by a holiday (Veterans Day) and so I thought that party would be more heavily attended as well if people did not have work or school the next day. So that brought us to the 12th. Touring Plans actually ranked the party on the 10th as what they predict to be the least attended,:ssst:but I have my doubts given the holiday. :confused3
The prediction they had for our party night is still one of the lower ones and really, it's all just guessing anyway! ::yes::
That's all I have for now. C'mon November hours!!!

Now the ADR debates begin:

I am thinking a sprinkling of ADRs. The big one is California Grill, but after that things get murky. I think we agree on a meal in Germany Biergarten, and Trail's End at Fort Wilderness for dinner. Then it's all up in the air. We're probably do a lot of quick service Yak and Yeti and Lunching Pad here we come!

I think we are definite on going to California Grill and Trail's End...or is it just that we definitely agree we want to go to them?? :scratchin

Every time I think about it, there are both new and old places we want to eat at. Really, Disney Food Blog is right...food is a theme park!:rotfl:

Also, we can't forget that at least a day or two will involve snacking around the F&W booths! I am really hoping for that kimchi hot dog in South Korea again, it was delish.

Dare we list places we want to eat most?
California grill
Biergarten (lunch most likely)
Trails End (dinner or bfast)
Boma (dinner)
Narcoosees
Crystal palace
Sci Fi dine in
Brown derby

That's all I can think of for now and it doesn't even cover the QS that we like such as the build your own pasta at AoA's landscape of flavors, sleepy hollow spicy chicken waffle, Casey's, and the amazing amazing truffle fries we had a territory lounge.

Obviously, we are going to need that tables in wonderland card!!

Maybe I should go eat a granola bar; I think I may be hungry!
