Along with retirement comes a little too much time on my hands! I’ve got to up those volunteer hours…

But in the meantime, playing on my computer and researching our last minute (for us!) Disney trip keeps me happy and occupied.

This is our first visit in 9 years and it’s very “no pressure” - just the 2 of us, staying at the Yacht Club, arriving late afternoon on February 4 and leaving mid-afternoon on February 9. I spent a little bit more money to add an extra day (for a total of 6) to our Park Hopper passes so we can hit up a park on both our day of arrival and day of departure. We’re always up for a walk over to Epcot, even if it’s just to stroll around and accomplish nothing else. I figure at the very least we’ll grab dinner there on our first night and breakfast on our last day.

I’m doing no dining reservations before we arrive because I don’t do well knowing where and what I want to eat days in advance. I’m doing no Lightening Lanes because honestly, I don’t want to spend the extra money. There’s no ride important enough that I’d spend extra $ to not wait in line, nor spend what I consider an exorbitant amount of time waiting for. We all have our priorities as far as what’s important, right? And I’m sure I’ll be revisiting this idea when our grands are old enough to go with us. LOL

That being said, I put together a chart to help me remember the attractions I’d like to get to. I’m not plotting out anything further than this…

I’m feeling pretty confident that we’ll put a dent in the list. We’re both fit, naturally move quickly, and aren’t the type that need a break in the middle of the day nor a rest day in the middle of our stay. When at Disney we thrive on activity. We can easily hit up more than one park each day and just go with the flow. I think that on a couple of the mornings we’ll get out for the early entry, but I’m not going to worry too much about that. (My husband is very agreeable about whatever I suggest at Disney, but he does like to sleep in.)

I know crowd calendars are certainly not foolproof, but I check them anyway. Most seem to say that attendance will be “average” during our stay. Who knows what any of them ultimately mean or if they’re accurate?

The bottom line is we’re staying in a lovely resort and we’re at Disney World - It gives me all the feels!! That’s why I’m always happy to experience Spaceship Earth or Jungle Cruise or It’s a Small World or the Tomorrowland Transit Authority every time I’m there. I love the nostalgia! And if I have to miss some of the popular (long line) rides on my list, that’s ok too. Nothing there is going to make or break our trip.

I tried to list ALL rides that we’d like to experience, not including those that I know will be closed during our stay. If anyone sees anything glaringly incorrect - like I totally missed something wonderful - let me know. And I’ll let you know how successful my plan was!

I agree a Bazillion % with your plans! We'll be there the last week of February ourselves, and after reading your post, I have to ask ... did you plan our trip too??? :-)

Its been a few years since we were at WDW in February. The only thing I remember us doing (like you, we're a couple of retirees 😉 ) that you did not mention was swimming in the resort pool. First time in my life I ever went swimming during the winter in the month of February. We loved it! So, take your swimming trunks. After all, the Yacht Club has one of the very best pools at WDW.

We're on the same wavelength I guess!

Normally I'd be right there with you regarding swimming in February, especially when we lived up in the cold Northeast. But since we've retired to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi and put in a pool (making us even more appealing to far-flung grown children with our young grandkids) that's not such a big deal. And thankfully so this trip, as the big pool at the Yacht Club is currently closed for renovations. But we will take bathing suits anyway because you never know what we might want to get up to.

I hope you have a wonderful trip!

Jumping in! I'll be there the 3rd-7th (leaving early the 7th). I'll be at AKL for the first time. This is my first solo trip but the third February trip. My husband and I have discovered that it's our favorite time to go.

Yup, this is my current situation in Southern Mississippi on the Gulf Coast. We leave in exactly 2 weeks...

Notice the obligatory Mardi Gras beads on my rocker!!

February is my absolute favorite time to go to WDW! We will be at BC Feb 3-6 and I’m very excited. My plans are VERY different from yours, as we will be taking our 3yo for her first trip. But I love reading trip reports of all kinds, so looking forward to hear how your trip goes!

Well, I imagine the plans for our next trip - which will hopefully involve some pretty young grandkids - will be more similar to yours!

Have the best time!!!
