Pre-Trip report -Dreams maiden voyage

Ok so now it is only 8 sleeps until we fly out to the states:cool1:

Tonight when DH(rob) gets home we will get the cases out of the loft and tomorrow I start packing - not a huge list this time to pack, think we have now got this travelling light business sorted:rotfl:

Plans for this week leading up to departure are as follows
  • Tidy house top to bottom:laundy:
  • pack cases
  • purchase magnetic printer paper
  • print out magnets
  • work:teacher: (boo - how will I concentrate on work when I have a fab trip to look forward too?)
  • bore work collegues with my trip countdown:lmao:
  • deliver dogs to the kennels day before we flypluto:
  • FLY!!!!!

not long to go now!!!

Looking forward to reading all about your maiden voyage on the Dream .. we would have loved to sail on the Dream this year but the timing is all wrong and so we have opted for the Magic Westbound Transatlantic ... we will maybe do the Dream in 2012.

Hi JoJo!!!

I absolutely can't wait to hear all about your cruise on the Dream! :goodvibes I'm so excited about it finally setting sail, seems like we've been waiting forever!

We all saw a commercial for it the other night! So exciting, and we don't even have a real date booked for one of the new ships right now (looking at the Fantasy in late 2012).

:goodvibes Wishing you a safe trip abroad!

Jen :)

Thanks

I hope I make my TR as entertaining as yours. I have a new camera(thanks Santa) so hope to have some fab pics to post aswell.

A week today and we will be doing the obligatory Walmarts stop - for toiletries - saves us having to pack any and it drives the kids potty to have to go to bigger shops then we have back home. (ASDA our local store is part of the Walmart family but they are no where near as big - and its a chore for the kids to go there so Walmarts is Hell for them :rotfl:)

So we have now finalised our itinerary for the few days leading upto the cruise.

Sat 22nd Pm - we land in Orlando, find hotel and then head out to Walmarts for essential toiletries(saves alittle bit of packing weight and space not to bring them from home:lmao:)

Sunday 23rd - think its Universal today to visit Harry Potter World - my DD and I are big fans and so excited. The very first time we visited Universal, we saw the area they would be putting the experience in raized to the ground, the following trip and Hogwarts was near completion so we are so excited to see the completed experience. And of course we have to scare DD silly again on the Jaws ride - the shark gets ger every time:rotfl2: Hoping to go eat at Bubba Gumps - I just dream of the shrimp bucket:love:

Monday 24th - Seaworld today to see Shamu. When we were there christmas 2009 we couldn't get into the show as it was so busy, so DS came away very dissapointed, so we promised him a trip back.

Tuesday 25th - DH wants to do Busch Gardens. We attempted to go on the very first trip to the states. the day we chose to go was the wettest day we have ever experienced(and we get our fair share of rain over in the UK) The rain was the heaviest I have ever seen. We were soaked within minutes, and all the rides were closed due to thunderstorms. I think we just grabbed some food, some XXL T shirts and towels from the gift shop, and went back to the car to dry and change and drove back to the hotel - DH was so dissapointed.

Wednesday - Hmmm not sure what we shall be doing on this day
 I know maybe a little boat trip:rotfl2:

Oh No! Please don't let it be........I have the startings of a sore throat and sore ears :headache:- I cannot be ill for this trip....I WILL NOT be ill for this trip:sick:

AND the cases are STILL in the loft:mad:

Thanks Michelle, I could do with the Pixie dust right now. 1 work day down, 4 to go, cases are now out of loft but empty - but the ears and the throat are still sore - still tomorrow is another day - closer to the trip:rotfl2:

Hi, JoJo! I am going on my first cruise in May on the DREAM I would love to write a pre trip report. Yours is great. Can you help? How does it work?

LOL well this is my first pre-trip report too, so not sure how much help I can b. Basically I read thru some other trip and pre-trip reports to get a feel of how other have done theirs and then tried to follow suit. Really its just a place for me to vent my excitement - as I have had no real planning to do.
Enjoy your cruise - it will be fabby! and do write a report, its fun to read what others think about their experiences.

Day 2 of work complete - 3 more to go and the best thing is the sore throat hasn't really developed into anything!

The cases are still empty(but will be dealing with that very soon after I have dropped the little dude - Evan , at Beavers!) but on the plus side the magnets are underway!:thumbsup2

I had some fab designs from Jordak and also from another 4shared file(sorry forgotten who's at the moment but I will be giving credit where due - as soon as I can work out who to give it too!:rotfl2:)
I started at a rediculous hour last night to cut and paste all the images into place ready to print, took me forever so that I could get the most out of my 4 very expensive magnetic paper sheets:rotfl: I printed the first two sheets fine but the 3rd and 4th sheet I had messed around with the margins on word and forgot to take that into consideration so somehow managed to cut Mickey ears off:eek::eek::eek:

SO, I am debating now wether to just go with the meager few magnets I have and forget the others and then print out more when we goto Alaska OR to fork out for more expensive paper and have another go:confused:

Right now though I have to go make sure Dude has eaten his dinner so that we can go drop him off to beavers and then I can start on the packing:cool1:

jojo, thanks for the help. I hope you have a great time on your cruise.

Look forward to seeing your take of the Dream.

Hi, I have a general question. How much notice did you give your childs
school to let them know that they will be on vacation. Or do you say personal business.:confused3

Our school policy is two weeks. You might want to talk to someone who has taken their kids out before. I did write a letter just stating the fact that I was taking them out, sorry for the inconvenience and that I would do everything I could to get all their work made up in a timely manner. Each school is different. Ours does not give work till they get back. Occasionally a teacher would give a few papers ahead of time.

So glad you're feeling better!! Did you watch the christening on Facebook?

Not sure what area you are from? Over in the UK the schools don't really like you taking the children out in term time, but our school in particular wants minimum of 6 weeks notice and its not a guarenteed authorisation. Depending on circumstances, attendance and performance records depends on wether they grant it or make you go unorthorised.

ordinariuly we wouldn;t take them out of school but Disney weren't kind enought toschedule the MV for a holiday time LOL
