Pre-trip Jitters....

Has anyone else experienced this? We are flying out tomorrow night and I'm starting to feel like a wreck. I've been messing around with the packing for hours. Going over and over everything to the point of panic attack. I'm sure I've forgotten something and now I'm remembering all those questions I wanted to ask and didn't.

This is a vacation! I rationally know this is silly and I promised myself that I would go with the flow and not go through this pre-trip neurosis (sp?), but here I am....... :guilty:

I go through the same thing you are going through right before we leave on any trip. Lists have helped tp prepare in the past, but usually when I get out of the house, too far from home to return for anything, I begin to relax. You can usually get almost anything you need that was forgotten, like the time I forget my whole make-up bag before BIL got married. Spent the whole morning at a drug store trying to replace the essentials. :earsgirl: Anyway, try your best to relax "It's a vacation!" And don't make your DH go back to see if the door was locked more than twice! :teeth:

Have a great trip!

I completely understand how you feel. We cruised in January, so I was really worried about the clothes situation. I wanted to make sure that we were covered in case it was cool, but also wanted to have some warm weather stuff. Not to mention all the other things that you have to remember to pack. I always try and make myself a packing list at least a week ahead of time, but I still always end up panicking just like you. Like the other poster said, once you are out of the house it will be better...and once you catch the first glance of that beautiful and magnificent ship, all your worries will be forgotten...Hakuna Matata, and Happy Sailing to you! :wave2:

Also flying out tomorrow, I've got our lists ready but we havn't packed yet, guess I shuld start doing that soon :)

Just need to get through 8 more hrs of work, too bad that I've still got what seems like 2 days worth of stuff I need to get done before I can leave work

After 697 posts, and the amount of "lurking" time that would go along with that, my assumption is that you know far more than most DCL guests when they board (sometimes tough to remember that these boards are not populated by all of them, just the pathological --about the mouse--among us). If you forgot something, so you'll just do without it, that's all.
And about the soothing mantra "its a vacation", ...yes, but its a Disney Vacation. A Disney Cruise. That makes it happy. Have a mickey bar for dessert your first night at dinner. Have your own photo taken with a character--let the kids stare at you for being in line, its their problem, not yours--and then have a mickey waffle the next morning for breakfast.

So you do know all you need to know, and there is nothing left to ask. You are all set.

Forgot something? Who cares--its a Disney Cruise!!

As long as you've got your cruise documents, birth certificates, and credit cards, you'll be OK. I'd throw in a few clothes and a bathing suit too.

If you're driving to the port, there are places you can stop along the way to pick up anything you've forgotten. See the great map at http://dcltribute.com/maps/brevard.htm.

To quote an oddly mustachioed eastern European dude in a track suit:

"You can dooo eeet!!!"

Remember, the only things you need to bring with you are: 1) your plane tickets (you're flying out tonight :earseek: ) 2) your passport or photo id and birth certificate, 3) any prescription meds that you need and 4) the clothes on your back.

EVERYTHING else is replaceable once you're on the ship. That would be somewhat extreme and yea, that could get to be very expensive, but you really don't need to worry about forgetting a couple of items. And not everything on the be all, end all packing list is anywhere near an absolute necesity. So what if you forgot the duct tape and over the door shoe holder - you're still going to have a great trip!!

Take a deep breath, calm down and think sunny thoughts :sunny: :cool2: :boat: and do the I'm a going on a cruise dance    :dancer: :jumping1: :bounce: :cheer2: :Pinkbounc

I have a problem with the pre-trip "what-ifs".
What if the kids have probs at home?
What if the oceans aren't calm?
What if my meds don't work?
What if the ship can't dock?
What if it rains?

You guys are right-who cares? You're on vacation-what will be will be!

Thanks everyone, I know you are ALL right!! Maybe just needed to hear it.

I am not by nature a very organized person. I do lots of things to make my life easier such as E-tickets so there is no chance of forgetting the plane tickets or forgetting where I put them (E-tickets changed my life :rotfl: ).

Also, it's not just the ship stuff. Kids are missing 2 weeks of school so all the stuff for their reports and projects. All the house stuff, leaving for 2 weeks and settleing the pets, mail, etc. Then, we are flying in a day early and staying 5 days afterwards, so some moving around and all the paperwork with that.

I always tell DH (who is very anal and organized but amusingly doesn't participate in the packing, just the noticing if something is forgotten ;) ) It must be soooo nice to just pop a few outfits and a shaving kit into a bag and be good to go!! Ahh, maybe someday!

Thanks for the support, really getting excited now. Not flying out until tonight so lots of time today for last minute remembering!!
