Pre-trip fiasco-Beware

Me and my lady tried for the first time to put money on a pre-paid greendotcard. We were not told that the money would not be avaialble via the card for 7-10 business days. Now we have only like 75 dollars to take with us. This is a major issue. Lucky meals and room and all is paid for but this kills a lot of our extras.

beware because this is bad.

PS The company refuses to send the card to the hotel where we will be.

I have never heard of Green Dot. I do not recommend gift cards and prepaid "credit" cards of any kind for major dollar amounts let alone unknown branded cards.

Ick. Massive setback for you. Is there anyone you trust who could check your mail and send it to you if it isn't too late? Your idea sounded really good in theory. I hate when these sort of things happen.

P.S. Greendot is a MAJOR brand sold in drug stores. As it turns out this will be better for the future trips.

I need to know more about this card. Why would you use something like that instead of simply going to the bank and getting traveller's cheques or putting a credit on your credit card or something like that?
