Pre-Trip, Disney in August...am I nuts?!? - Trip Report!!

Hello all!! I know it's been forever since I wrote anything, especially about Disney. It's been really busy!! Our grad classes are taking up so much time this summer, it's crazy! :headache: Plus one of the classes was not very interesting to me (European Enlightenment! Fortunately, J really likes it so he's been my go-to-guy, hehe!). We're officially done with the coursework for that class, just gotta finish up the 10-12 page paper  So this time Thursday I should be good to go!
I figured it was time for an update (plus I was tired of thinking about my paper!). As the title says, we've had a very small change in plans. Nothing about the flight (hopefully!), hotel, days, etc. Just a little something that could effect how active I am. It's official to say now that J and I are....HAVING A BABY!!! :dance3: We had planned (hoped) that it would happen sometime this year, just happened a little earlier than we expected. So now I'll be about 16-weeks along come the trip. I honestly didn't think it would be that big of a deal, but it turns out I'm going to miss out on some of the really big rides (Splash Mountain, Rockin' Rollercoast, Tower of Terror, etc) :scared1: WHAT?! Honestly, the more I think about it, I've decided it's really not that big of a deal. I'll still be able to ride a few of the smaller rides, and J is totally cool with riding some of the big ones by himself (it's not fair for him to miss out on all the fun!). And this will enable us to have some down/pool time during the day. It is, after all a vacation!
So now I need to run back through the list and figure out which rides to focus on and possibly create a new Fast Pass strategy for us. If anyone out there has ANY suggestions for my situation (regarding Disney or not), I would really appreciate it! :worship: This is our first and we're both learning as we go along!
I promise to have a trip update once this paper is behind me! :thumbsup2

Wow! Congratulations!!!!! How exciting! :) At least you have a really great reason for having to miss out on those rides. ;)

congratulations to you both

just think of the future trips you will be able to plan
with your new family, how exciting

:grouphug:

:goodvibes Oh my goodness, Amanda!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!! :goodvibes HOW EXCITING!!! :dance3: You sound very calm on this post, but I'm sure you're just beside yourself with excitement!!! How great! :woohoo: I know...I couldn't believe how many of the rides have cautions for pregnant women... But thankfully it's not like Six Flags where everything is a ride! You'll still be able to go to all of the shows and the non-crazy rides :thumbsup2 Congtrats again!!! :yay:

Thanks so much!! This is probably the best reason to miss out on some rides! :thumbsup2

Thanks!! And I totally plan on going back in a few years (if not sooner!) with the little one in store! :cloud9:

Congrats, that is exciting news!

Thank you!! We are super excited!!

Thanks, Staci! We found out a few weeks ago, but wanted to head to the doc's office before we spread the good news! And I already told J that he HAS to take me back since I'll be missing out on some of the big rides. At least now I feel like we can relax and not rush through everything!
Thanks so much everyone! And I promise to post soon with an update! I just turned in my horrid 10-12 page paper yesterday! :woohoo: So now I can spend some time going over our plans again!!

Congrats on the great news! Now you can say you will be taking your first trip as a family of 3.

Hey Amanda! Just want to let you know I am subbing your PTR! Congrats on the pregnancy! All my girlfriends go to WDW at some point preggers..you will be great! Maybe they will let you cut in line ? :woohoo:

Congrats on turning in your paper! :thumbsup2 That's a HUGE accomplishment! I'm completely finished in less than a month now! :woohoo: So...are you holding up ok? Do you have morning sickness terribly? I hope not! Take extra good care of yourself! Congrats again!!! :goodvibes

:rotfl: That's exactly how J talks, saying our ADRs our now for "3", not "2", ha!!

Congratulations! That is such wonderful news!
Thanks so much! We're really excited! :goodvibes

Hi and welcome!! And thanks! I've done a little research but still need to find out what rides might be possible for me! And that would be great to cut in line, hehe! :thumbsup2

Thanks, Staci! We're still waiting on our grades, so it's done but I'm still not sure how I did (keep your fingers crossed!)
Things have been good! Most of the nausea has passed (thank goodness!) and I can go out to eat without getting queasy at other people's food!  We have to wait another three weeks for the next doc appt, so hopefully we'll have another sonogram to see the little "squirt" again. Then maybe a few weeks after that we'll find out if it's a boy or girl! AH! Can't wait!! :cloud9:

Since I finished one course for the summer (and one more to go before graduation!), I thought I'd post about our trip to see what everyone thought about our plans!
So we arrive Sunday, August 9 around 11:30am (which means our flight leaves around 7:30am, yikes!), and hopefully we'll get to the Boardwalk Villas around 1:00pm. Instead of rushing to Magic Kingdom like our original plans, we're going to head to Downtown Disney to have lunch (maybe at Wolfgang Puck Express!), walk around, shop, etc. I'll try not to shop too much on the first day... no promises
Then we'll head over to Magic Kingdom once the sun goes down. MK is open til 1:00am, so we'll stay as late as we can (or til I'm too cranky to take it anymore, ha!). There are a few things I hope to do at MK that day, such as:
Monster's Inc
Mickey's Philharmagic
Peter Pan's Flight (if the line isn't 2 hours!)
Winnie the Pooh
Haunted Mansion
Hall of Presidents
Watch Spectro and/or Wishes
whatever else we can get it!
And of course we'll have to get our first Dole Whip!! Plus maybe a Mickey Ice Cream Bar, cheeseburger, or whatever else baby is wanting! :thumbsup2
So we'll stay as long as we can, but have to keep in mind that we'll have to get up early for EMH at Hollywood Studios!! And I promise to post about Day 2 soon!!

That sounds so great! :thumbsup2 It'll be really good to just relax for a little bit after you get to Disney. And you can still enjoy MK at night!! Haha--it'll be fun to hear all about what baby wants to eat/makes you want to eat while you're there! :rotfl: I'm glad most of the nausea is gone! That can't be fun. Wow!!! You might get to see if you're having a boy or a girl soon!! How fun! I bet you and your hubby are just eating every minute of this up! :goodvibes

Sounds good to me! :thumbsup2 I love walking around MK late at night. EMH is the best. YUM! Dole Whips. Why doesn't the DIS have a smiley of Homer Simpson drooling? I love whenever someone mentions Peter Pan's Flight, they always throw in "if the line isn't *insert obscene wait time* long..." :rotfl: Why does the wait for that ride get like that??? I don't understand it!

I'm jealous, our flight doesn't get land on the 9th until 6:30. I like the early arrival.

Your first day plans look great! Wow, you are soooo close to being only ONE MONTH away from your trip. :woohoo:

Your first day plans look great! That is so nice you will get to Disney at 11:30 on your first day. Its no fun getting to the airport that early to catch your flight but it will all pay off once you get there. Can't wait to read day 2!

I know! I'm really looking forward to this actually being a "vacation" now! I've actually subscribed to several food pic threads and baby is already craving some goodies!!

I can't wait to see MK at night! It's been way too long! That's funny you mentioned Peter Pan's Flight cause there was a thread and people were debating why there is always such a wait and if it was worth it. Most said "yes!" it's worth it! So hopefully we'll get to ride it!

I'm jealous, our flight doesn't get land on the 9th until 6:30. I like the early arrival.

I kind of cringed at the thought of our early flight, and I'm such a weirdo about flights that I'll want to get there as early as possible! I can already say that I probably won't get much sleep the night before. I mean, do you guys really sleep the night before a Disney trip?! ;)

Your first day plans look great! Wow, you are soooo close to being only ONE MONTH away from your trip. :woohoo:

We are soooooo excited!! I'm starting to stock up on some necessities (ponchos, comfy shoes, etc). It's gonna be here before we know it!! Yay!!

Thanks!! I'm hoping we'll get quite a few rides in the first day and can hang out as long as possible (keep your fingers crossed for the 1am mark, ha!).

Today is our 1-month mark!!:woohoo: I can't believe our Disney trip will be here in a matter of weeks! We still have our grad class to finish, but at least it'll make the time go by quick. On a side note, we finally got our grades for the (not-so-wonderful) class we finished. My final grade was.... A-!! I know, I know. An A-minus. Who does that? Well, this teacher does. No matter. I'm just excited that I got what I did considering it was probably my least favorite class of my graduate career. (another side note, my smart hubby got an A! so yay for him!).
Ok, on to the really exciting stuff. Day 2 of our Disney vacation!
Plan is to wake up early and hit DHS for EMHM at 8:00am then:
-Ride Toy Story Mania first, then get a FP
- Tower of Terror and/or Rockin' Roller Coaster (these are all for J since I have to miss out :sad2:, oh wel! it'll be snack time for baby!)
- Star Tours (if line isn't bad)
- Great Movie Ride
- Lunch at Sci-Fi at 11:00am
- fit in as many shows as possible: Indiana Jones, Muppets 3-D, Lights Motor Action Extreme Stunt Show, Magic of Disney Animation
Once it gets too hot we figure we could go back to the hotel for a nap/dip in the pool. Then after that head over to Epcot for some Future World exploration:
- Imagination Pavilion (Honey I Shrunk the Audience, Imageworks, Kodak "What if" Labs, etc) J is such a science nerd that I know he's gonna LOVE this stuff!
- Seas with Nemo and Friends (esp Turtle Talk with Crush!)
- Land Pavilion (we have dinner ressies at the Garden Grill at 7:30, our first Character Meal!!)
So that's it for Day 2. Again, we'll see how much we can get done in one day. I will keep in mind that Day 3 won't be quite as hectic! :thumbsup2

Your plans sound great:thumbsup2 I have never eaten at the Garden Grill, but I have been reading really good things about it. I can't wait to see what you think! Hope you are feeling well!
