Hi All,

I'm after some ideas of what are some pre-trip activities I can do with my kids, who are toddler age, before our trip?

They know Mickey and love him, but I'd love to get them excited for the parks a bit more. What are some fun activities that we can do with them in the months leading up to the trip?

Thanks!

Capo

We took my nephew (then 4) to WDW with us in 2008. He was excited about the trip, but really didn't know what to expect. What I found helpful was showing him Disney movies that had rides at the various parks:

Aladdin - The Magic Carpets of Aladdin

Pirates of the Caribbean - Pirates of the Caribbean

Br'er Rabbit (Non-Disney movie) - Splash Mountain

Peter Pan - Peter Pan's Flight

Snow White - Snow White's Scary Adventures

Cinderella - Cinderella's Golden Carousel and the Castle, of course!

Dumbo - Dumbo the Flying Elephant

Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day - The Many Advenutures of Winnie the Pooh

Alice in Wonderland - Mad Tea Party

Toy Story 1 & 2 - Buzz Lightyear's Space Ranger Spin & Toy Story Mania

Monsters, Inc. - Monsters, Inc. Laugh Floor

Finding Nemo - The Seas with Nemo & Friends, Turtle Talk with Crush, Finding Nemo the Musical

A Bug's Life - It's Tough to Be a Bug

The Lion King - Festival of the Lion

Since they love (and know) Mickey, how about baking some Mickey Mouse cupcakes?

This is a great pre-Disney activity site:

watching the disney planning dvd always got my dd excited.
i also like to make rice crispy treats cut out like mickey with her.
and collecting things to take like t shirts, mickey crocs, things to decorate the room with is fun.

My youngest children love to watch the different rides and shows on You Tube, my dd with be tall enough this next trip to ride some of the bigger rides and we are getting her ready for them by watching them on the computer. We also are going to start the theme nights next week, I got some great ideas on here the other day and we plan on doing 2 a month leading up to our trip. My kids don't know about our trip yet but I told them about the theme nights and they are very excited. Also look on the travel channel for any Disney related shows, I tape them whenever they have a new one and my kids watch them so much.

We watch lot of disney movies. We also have Disney mornings where we'll watch disney shows on the travel channel, watch disney planning DVDs, or disney movies and make mickey pancakes. I have also left letters in the mail box (dd loves to get mail) with a letter from the characters and mickey confetti (just the hole punches from a mickey shaped hole puncher) in the envelope, I put a picture of the character who the letter is from too. We love sitting and watching videos on you tube of anything from the parks (parades, fireworks, the opening show of the magic kingdom). You can also get free personalized park maps on disney's web site and dd loves looking and playing with the maps.

We have made a countdown calendar and chain and I actually bought 20 really cute Disney themed gifts at Dollar Tree and Walmart and wrapped them and put them in a big Mickey bag. DS gets to open one a day until our trip.
It's all stuff to keep him occupied for the 10 hour drive down.

go to the Fairy Godmailer thread and ask someone who is going before you to send him a post card from WDW. If it comes awhile before you leave, you could leave it out or show it to him again the day before to remind him " MIckey" ( or whoever) is waitting to meet him.
