Anybody out there have a 9-12 year old girl? You know how they go through the whole wanting to be "cool" thing. Their favorite movies, music, and clothing choices all change to emulate what they think a "teen" might like. Well, we've been experiencing this syndrome for several years with my soon to be 10 yr old (in 2 weeks). For example Me to Amanda at age 7-"Why don't you want to ride on Dumbo?"-"Mommy, Dumbo is for little kids!"-"Amanda, You're 7, you ARE a little kid!"

Anyway, here is how her behavior has changed post cruise:
1)New favorite group-Baha Men (who we saw live on the ship)
2)2nd favorite music choice-Disney Masterpiece CD's-she has 2 of them with songs from her favorite movies.
3)New favorite TV choice-All of our Disney movies are being dragged back out again, in the past 3 days she has watched Alladin, Hercules, Fantasia 2000, Toy Story 1 & 2, Little Mermaid 2 and Monsters Inc.
4)New Favorite clothing-shirt from Del Sol, I discovered the magic shirt.

Anyway, I am so happy to see my little girl re emerging that I just had to share. It would be worth the price of a cruise yearly to keep this sweet innocent disney darling around for a while!

Anybody else notice any post cruise behavior changes???

WOW, you saw Baha Men live on your cruise -- COOL! :teeth: We would have LOVED that in our household.

Thankfully my 9-year-old DD still loves all things Disney, she hasn't decided they're uncool yet.

She definitely DOES have a renewed interest in Disney video games and movies after being on the cruise, though...last year she just HAD to have the Hercules video game they play in the Lab. :)

Yes Michelle, the Baha Men were live on our cruise on Nassau night.
They were in WaveBands. All the kids were seated on the dance floor with the adults jammed where ever they could fit. We ended up in the bar area standing on barstools. They seem to be a group of really nice guys! Captain Henry happened to be standing next to us for the last 15 minutes of the show and he said that they have them on the ship quite often when they dock in Nassau and that they are "a bunch of good guys".

After the show, they shook hands with all the kids (and grown ups too) and gave autographs and hung around quite a while mingling and having their pictures taken.

I won't be able to hear "Lime in the Coconut", "Move It like This, Shake it Like that", or "Who let the dogs out" ever again without remembering our fabulous 4 day cruise.

When was your 4-day Wonder cruise with the Baha Men on board?:earsboy: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

Hans Solo-Our cruise was just last week 9/22 but the Capt said they are on the ship regularly on Nassau night. They performed at 7:45pm in between the two dinner seatings.

What a great surprise act. Our DD and DS would have loved to seen them. Was it listed in the Navagator or did they just show up?:earsboy: :earsgirl: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

It was listed in the Navigator.
I thought it was a joke...you know, something along the lines of the Gloria Gaynors and John Travoltas who we saw the previous night in wavebands. But, my husband said it was true and sure enough, it actually was true and it was them. The place was packed and these guys sang from 7:45 to about 8:20 and then proceeded to wander amongst all the kids and shake hands and give autographs and pose for pictures. A fabulous concert experience for my DD and friend's DS as it was so much more intimate than going to see them in a "concert setting" in a stadium or arena....they would never have gotten the personal attention they got.

So, I guess the Baha Men are a big hit. I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned here before as according to the captain it happens regularly.

Anyway, back to my original post.....has anyone else seen any positive post cruise behavior in their pre-teens? I love the renewed interest in all things disney!

Sorry to derail your original question, Sonya! :teeth:

I have never heard of or seen anyone post about the Baha Men being onboard; that's why I was so surprised. My daughter would have been in HEAVEN if she had seen them, she loves the Baha Men (well, okay, I do too!) ;)

Hopefully some others can attest to the post-cruise behavior changes that you're asking about! :)

That's OK Michelle,
It was kind of fun reliving the whole thing through posting here. Hey, Barb & Tony, if you're reading this, have you ever seen the Baha Men listed in the Navigator on your cruises??

I did truly wonder if it was just my daughter who got re-Disneyed after a cruise or does it happen to everybody. We go to DW quite often and this never happens.:p

We really enjoyed the Baha Men too and were very surprised when we heard they were going to be playing in WaveBands! So we grabbed some good seats down front and everyone enjoyed the show! Just one of those sprinkles of pixie dust that Disney is so good at to make the traveling experience so enjoyable:)

WOW! That would be so cool if we get to see the Baha Men on our Halloween Wonder Cruise! We sail out Oct 31, and my niece turns 2 Nov 4, and she drops everything and dances away when she hears "Who Let The Dogs Out!"

Sorry I can't help you in the attitude change as this will be our 1st cruise, but it would be nice to see this happen to my DD (16!!) and DS (11). ;)

THANK YOU for the info on the Baha Men being "regulars" at WaveBands! :teeth:

Not necessarily to the extent you note, but the "attitude" softens on occasion when reliving the last and planning for the next cruise. Or it might just be stages!

And yes the BahaMen have been around - we saw them onboard and at CC, several performances during our 2000 cruise. This was Before they became famous. DH picked up their CD the minute it came out - drives me crazy!:jester:

Haven't seen them, but we will DEFINITELY keep an eye out! We have 8 more trips on the Wonder between now and the end of 2003, so hopefully our chances of seeing them are good. :D
