I thought I'd share what our family is doing in order to get ready for the walking we will be doing on our trip in September. I mapped on Yahoo how far it was from our house to the Polynesian resort and it was 1035 miles. We are going to "walk" and "bike" our way there. I keep track of our walking and biking (we measured the neighborhood and bikes have odometer) and we track how far we go each day. Our goal is to make the complete 1035 miles before we go. We are having a fun time doing this- I walk and my kids might ride their bikes and we can talk about school, soccer, etc. My hubby and I have "adult time" and get exercise in. Once school is out I have a "big" bike ride for my boys and I up to get ice cream (thankfully there are country roads). My kids are 12 (almost 13) and 11 so they are having fun with this activity.
