i know there are loads of these cards out there, i've decided to finally go for one this year in an attempt to "not dip into" the holiday spends fund!;) i am searching online but there are a few..... Fairfx, travelex etc
which card have you used/would recommend??:confused3
ideally i'd like one that i can top up with funds every week or so:confused3

i believe the travelex card you can top up weekly - we have one for our trip in may and just keep topping it up when we have money
i know that most cards charge at atm's so i was recommended to withdraw larger amounts to save on charges though as most places take mastercard i probably will just take a few dollars for tips etc

i was also told to get 2 cards
if you get an additional card you can leave the main card with a family or friend so that if for example you needed to have more money put on there then they could do that for you

im leaving mine with my mum lol

We've got Fairfx cards which you can top up whenever you want - I think the minimum top up is something like $20 now.

We had the travelex one last year and found it really useful. We didn't have any problems with it and you check all the transactions online

You can now reload it on-line too but your bank might charge you for buying currency. Might be an idea to check to see how much they charge. I saved up all the money and loaded it once, but you can load it whenever you want. i know that for our RBS account, they charge 2.75% for buying currency- thieves!!!

I opened up a dollar account at Suntrust bank in downtown disney when we went last time and now just transfer money into that instead.

I'm a FairFX user also. I think though that on the 1st March the minimum top-up went up to $80.

Have a look on MSE's comparison - here - as they compare a few of them. You'll have to scroll about 3/4 down the page first.

I have the Fairfx card which we find is great - you can still get it via Matalan.co.uk and get it free if you top up $20 (I think it is that amount)

I have used it for several years now and it works well for us:thumbsup2

Another vote for Fairfx, we've used our card for a number of years now and never had any issues and it's really easy to top up on line.

A friend of ours had a travelex yesterday (they have just flow to vegas) I sorted it out for them as it was to late to get the fairfx card delivered and from what I can work out you have to pay a 2% reload fee to do it on line or via telephone, the only way it's free is via bank transfer. :confused3

Also, quite often we get paid when we are away so we tend to top up our cards whilst on holiday. We just go online and within a few hours the money is on the card:thumbsup2

Has anyone used the Thomas Cook prepaid currency card? Also if we pay for things using out KTTW card can we pay off the balance with these cards? Finally, do you just sign to use it like if you used a credit card when buying something? Sorry for all the questions just something I'm interested in too to take some money with :flower3:

I think the Thomas Cook card is actually part of travelex. You can use this to pay your KTTW bill. I used my card to pay for my dining plan when i checked in @ SSR last summer. Disney will also use this as the card against your KTTW account if you want them too. :)

Thankyou, we were thinking of charging food to the KTTW card and paying it off with this card... budgets and all that :thumbsup2 Many thanks:hug:

The cards are exactly the same as a credit credit and accepted everywhere, if it's for a small amount you don't even sign. One thing to be aware of is if you use it when checking into a hotel some hotels put a holding amount $$ on the card for any incidentals and it takes around 7 days to be credited back, we haven't had this problem at Disney though.

another vote for fairfx here and love the fact i can top up anywhere and its on the card in a few hours

Used the Fairfx card for a few years now with no issues. As stated can top up while on holiday if needed as well as check your card balance.
Also they do tend to offer the best exchange rate.

I've also used Fairfx now since 2008 it's a great card to use very easy to top up and money always shows up a few hours later to spend. Can top it up on holiday as well which is great.

They also have great rates.:thumbsup2

Another vote for fairfx. We used it at lots of different places and have never had a problem! :thumbsup2

well looks like the fairfx is a winner :rotfl2:
i love the idea of topping up with my wages when i'm out there!
have been onto the fairfx site via matalan and got it free and credited it with only 12.56 (GBP) for the minimum top up of 20dollars!!;)
thanks for all your advice folks :thumbsup2
