pre paid card

question....i dont have a credit card....but i do have an hr block card which has a mastercard logo on it....will disney accept that for payment and also to make reservations for hotel and other activites that require a credit card...or should i open a checking account and get a debit card...i only ask cause i was going to use it for a trial thing online and it said they didnt accept pre paid credit cards....so i need to know if disney accepts them???

OK -- the answers are both "yes" and "no" - I'll explain...

Yes, your H&R Block MC can be accepted for payment anywhere MasterCard is accepted on WDW (generally, that is everywhere except for a few "cash only" concessions).

However, when it comes to booking reservations, such as paying for lodging, etc., you need to be aware that Disney (like most resorts) will do some sort of "pre-authorization" against your card for a set amount of $$$. Normally, these pre-authorizations will lock-up your funds for several days, and if you don't plan around it, it can put a major snag in your vacation plans.

As you said this is an H&R Block card, so I am guessing it's a "Rapid Refund". Normally, these cards are branded/treated as prepaid cards, but you may want to look at your card's fine print or call the toll-free number on the back of the card for more information...

Unless policy has changed recently Disney does NOT do this. They run the card for a $1 authorization to verify that it is a valid card but there's no fixed or percentage-based pre-authorization for incidentals as you might find with other hotels/resorts.
